The American Way of life The Pilgrims came to Amer1ca to obta1n freedom of relig1on 1n the1r communlties and in the home They discovered that 1n this wonderful new land they could worshlp as they pleased increasing their faith in God and in their fellowman W1th1n the commumty they discovered it was possible to have pr1vate ownersh1p of property For here 1n AITIGFICB, there was such a vast expanse of untouched land that there was plenty for all Withm the home they developed a strong famlly un1t It was 1n these unrts where they worked and lived together that they f1rst der1ved the1.r ab1l1ty to thmk well and to learn more From these wants and needs they gained the will to do thus the establishment of publlc schools and colleges As they worked together as a people thetr thoughts turned down a new path Tyrants and dictators were unf1tted for th1s new l1fe they deslred a government of the people for the people and by the people As th1s feeling 1ncreased they embarked upon the greatest adventure 1n the h1story of man a representatrve government Why lt was marvelous Then the wealth1er class of people became too strong the average man was bemg shoved into the background So they evolved a two party system thus lt has served our country well It has constantly kept those 1n control doing the1r best for the country for fear that the other party m1ght ga1n control Bes1des lt has constantly kept our c1t1zens aware of what's happen1ng pol1t1cally As the country made progress down this new path the people began develop1ng the natural resources As f1rst ind1v1dual1ty was very strong Here 1n Amenca a man was an indivldual set apart from all others He worked and thought as he de s1red Freedom to work has been accepted from the begmmng Here a man was not compelled to work at a certa1n Job Upon the standardizauon of parts came mass productlon W1th the standard1zat1on of parts it was possible to produce a huge number of articles The results were plenty for all Yet th1s d1d not effect free enterpr1se for a man st1ll could own h1s own busmess and trade qu1te freely Yet another improvement was sc1ent1fic Upon develop1ng our natural resources we needed more but knew not how to obtain them Therefore the problem was presented to our scientists and mathematicians who developed many synthetlc products Why most of our modern progress has been a result of sc1ence electr1c1ty automoblles engrnes tele phones m1ll1ons of useful devices we now cons1der necessities Also a new age has been born the Atom1c Age All these thmgs the people of Amerlca feel contribute to our wonderful way of l1fe In concluslon, we find th1s poem wh1ch we feel to be representatlve of an Amerrcan I live for those who love me For those who know me true For the heaven that bends above me And the good that I can do For the wrongs that need reslstance For the cause that lacks ass1stance For the future 1n the dlstance And the good that I can do 0 o - I 1 5 I I .
