Water Polo eyes future. The Ladies' water polo team, even though they only had three varsity girls returning, had a fairly good team. At first, the ladies didn't think they were going to get anywhere this season. Through- out the season, they were plagued by a lack of players. But they had too much Chief Pride to ever have a forfeit on their record. Ending their season with an impressive 5-5, the ladies made the state playoffs. Their first game was against Coral Park which they won, 13-3. They found themselves up against Amer- ican High Patriots again. The Chiefs lost to the Patriots during the season, but only by one point. The Chiefs did their best but were defeated. This loss knocked them out ofthe state tourna- ment and put the Patriots in the 12th seat. They have a lot of recruiting to look forward to next year, since they will be losing three out of their seven players. Sharon DeSoto and Rose Castillo received State Honorable Mention for the second year in a row. nm.. t. 'gf .wus f- :za - . , -. f. -- 11- -192: , H H A ,.,, , .... .. ,... .. V V. S , . , .V I . State Champions you can't call them, but you could be proud of the way this year's guys' water polo team tried to live up to the title that seven seniors left them with in 1976. Despite the fact that there were only two remaining varsity players, the guys' water polo team had a very exciting and rewarding season. They finished the season with a 5-5 record. The Chiefs just made the State playoffs. Their first game was against the tough Killian Cougars, who beat them, 14-10. Since the Chiefs were beaten, that knocked them out of the 'A' tournament and placed them into the 'B' tournament to play Hialeah-Miami Lakes who also beat them 1-O, which kicked the Chiefs out of the State Tourna- Next year the Chiefs will be in the same position as they were before. They will have to rebuild their varsity team since they will be losing seven of the eight varsity players.
