JV has near peqfeot season 1 2 The JV football Chiefs ended their season with a 5-1 record. The only blemish was a 6-O loss to NMB. The potent offense was by two OBS, Sam Nixon and Kelvin Clark, and running backs Arthur Marsh and Ray Gamble. The outstanding defensive players were Manny McMullen, James Smith, and Marcus Fryer. Helping Coach Paris was a staff of fine coaches - Willie Melvin, Henry Snell and others. Water Polo eyes future. The Ladies' water polo team, even though they only had three varsity girls returning, had a fairly good team. At first, the ladies didn't think they were going to get anywhere this season. Through- out the season, they were plagued by a lack of players. But they had too much Chief Pride to ever have a forfeit on their record. Ending their season with an impressive 5-5, the ladies made the state playoffs. Their first game was against Coral Park which they won, 13-3. They found themselves up against Amer- ican High Patriots again. The Chiefs lost to the Patriots during the season, but only by one point. The Chiefs did their best but were defeated. This loss knocked them out ofthe state tourna- ment and put the Patriots in the 12th seat. They have a lot of recruiting to look forward to next year, since they will be losing three out of their seven players.
