Baseball Chiefs are still champs Q i Q -o ,C so Q Front Row - Enrique Espineira, Humberto Ponce, Pablo Barrios, Steve Salazar, German Gonzalez, Luis Varela, Tom Brandon, Iesus Ponce, Barry Barfield. Row 2- Head Coach Robert Hertler, Cesar Zamora, Iohn Beasley, Don Trucks, Randy Bush, Nick Esasky, Alberto Schweyer, Robbie Alvarez, Mark Reynolds, Asst. Coach Larry Bymes. With seven returning varsity players from last year's team, Coaches Rob Hertler and Larry Byrnes started varsity tryouts in September in order to pre- pare the remaining seventeen to represent the Carol City Chiefs and last year's state championship. Nine of the ten new players moved up from last year's junior varsity, a squad that played under the same system. Poise and lots of hard work was needed by this year's squad in order to have a successful season because everyone wanted to beat the state champs.
