MCC students met these require- ments through practice and instruction. They were trained. for everything from cleaning floors to managing their own beauty shops. A variety of services were provided such as permanents, straightening, shape, style, shampoo, set, manicures, and pedicures. Cosmetology is not for Women only, but for men also. OLVE acts to help others New to Miami Carol City this year, Project SOLVE quickly went into action. Members con- sisted of Peer Counselors. They Worked with mentally disturbed people. Before Christ- mas they collected clothes for South Florida State Hospital. They Visited mental hospitals, such as South Fla. The Mental Health Society held classes with the students, They also studied the work of psychia- trists, social workers and others employed to aid the disturbed. Ms. Baccus, their sponsor, planned a trip to Disney World with the club, and a banquet at the end of the year. - A Front row - Debborah Abramson, Almira Thomas, Ms. Florence Baccus, Millie Beniquez, Eula Shepard. There were many work experience programs at MCC, but only one was new in 1975-76 - a spe- cial DCT program for underclassmen. In addition to the hours they spent on the job, DCT members found time to organize an Employer-Employee Banquet for all members and their bosses. They held a leadership confer- ence to develop the skills necessary for their jobs. To raise money, they held bake sales, car washes and had a special cheese sale before the Christmas holidays.
