SAGA OF THE CHIEFS Football, at Carol City, was more than just a sport. For 55 dedicated young men, 12 coaches, and the fans who supported them, it was a way of life. Th rough seemingly endless hours of practice, and disappointing losses which dampened the spirits of many, the dili- gent coaches and persistent players never failed to put forth their very best. lt's extremely difficult to accept defeat with an attitude of good sportsmanship. But for the Chiefs, sportsmanship was the name of the game. With only one win to their credit, the undaunted Chiefs followed the Warpath to a Homecoming victory, finishing the sea- son with a 2-8 record. Despite the Chiefs somewhat disappointing record, football touched the lives of many students, teachers, and families in our community. lt was the magical force which brought people of all tribes together for a suspended moment in time. A moment of defeat, tears, endless endeavour, and ultimate victory. .3 D' .Ji 1401 Football
