Side wheel steamer, double-enderg wood, 3rd rate, schooner rigged.. Tonnage, 73o. S Length, 208 ft., 2 in. Beam, 33 ft., 2 in. Depth, II ft., IM, in. Commissioned January 29, 1862. From February to August, 1862, the Miami was attached to the West Gulf Blockading Squadron for service with the Mor- tar Flotilla, and participated in the bombardment of Forts jackson and St. Philip, April 18-24, and in the operations before Vicksburg during june and July. The Miami returned to Hampton Roads in September, 1862, for duty with the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron, operating principally in the rivers and sounds of North Carolina. On April 19, 1864, while engaged in the defense of Plymouth, N. C., the Miami was attacked by the C, S. Ram Afbemarle. On May 5, 1864, she took part in Heet engagement with C. S. Ram Allbemarfe and C. S. S. B01nb5heIl, capturing the latter. The Miami continued on active patrol duty along coast of North Carolina and Virginia until May, 1865. Placed out of commission May 22, 1865, at Philadelphia. Sold at auction in Philadelphia, August 10, 1865, for SI9,900. 4 i . U. 5. 5. MIAMI HIL 391 CND. El 5 Built at Cramp Shipbuilding Co., Philadelphia, Pa. Keel laid August 2, 1941. Launched December 8, 1942. Beam, 66', 32 Draft, DWL, ZIA, IIN Armament, 12-6 f47 cal., I2 SUKS8 cal., 4 Screws, superheated steam boilers, geared turbine drive. 40 mm Tonnage, operating, approx., I4,000 Length, overall, 610' lt 20 mm. Commissioned: December 28, 1943.
