We Dedicate o U R To BILLY We, the class of 1950, wish to dedicate this issue of the Hi-Point to Billy Campbell, our faithful janitor. Mr. Campbell keeps our rooms clean making our school hours more enjoyable. His pleas- ing personality has brought many smiles to our faces. This dedica- tion is a token of our gratitude to him.

To the Class of 1950: Each one of you has completed a period of work and study and is look- ing forward to opportunities for further achievement and more worthy self-expression. Hope is the spirit of youth, it is the lamp to the feet that lights the way to noble achievement. You will hear all the notes of discourage- ment, of mockery, of cynicism, and of disapproval. The hard things of life will not pass you by, and the band of friendship and love may not al- ways be near to cheer and sustain youg but just when the words of adversity and sorrow are keenest, we, who have faith in you, know that you will be strongest to resist, and most courageous to meet and conquer the tempta- tion to weakness and despair. You are part of a new generation. You were born and reared in a new society. The freedom you have is yours to destroy or strengthen as you see fit. I cannot say how you might live. I can only say if you live in ac- cordance with the principles of Americanism, your freedom will remain unsullied. One ship drives east and another west, By the self same wind that blows. 'Tis the set of the sail and not the gale That determines the way they go. Like the winds of the sea and the way of fate As we journey along through life, 'Tis the set of the soul that determines its goal And not the calm nor the strife. Congratulations and best wishes for your continued success. ERNEST H. STUEMPFLE, Super rising Principal 4
