The boys, appointed by Mr. Stuempile, patrol the crossings near the school for the special protection of the grade school children. Each year, in appreciation for their services, the senior members of the patrol are awarded a tour of Washington, D. C. Come rain, sleet, or snow, with no thought of their dis- comfort, our patrol boys were always on duty. Ever alert and watchful they guided small steps safely across the highways. 48
