' S ., .. 41 its si A Clgnocllucen and aflwaociatala ii i is fi 'Q' CHARLES If. SAYLOR. -J' , . Supeiiixiiig I'i'iiici1iul Hu A . I in Conference, 1 The question that is being aslud today is, 'iWlizit then the future?' The answer seems to be in fol- lowing two programs-that which deals with the objectives immediately facing us and the long term planning for final solution of the problems of society. The long term program is the most important. This is because too often the social culture in which we live is willing to accept a weak philosophy when a strong and dynamic one is needed. To overcome this, the hope of the era that is ah-:ad must, in a large Dart, lie with the young men and women of the rising generation. Of this group we must have the best possible material for the lower down in age, in- tellect, and development. The critical thinking of this group must be bolstered by conscientious study all up and down the line. This is necessary in order for us to arrive at a partial solution ofthe problems facing us socially, economically, and politically as well as the necessity of building the personal intelli- gence needed to share effectively the changing social order. No one lcnows how long it will take to bring this about, but any change to be lasting, must be deep- rooted and far-reaching. A generation may pass and yet another come upon the scene before all ofthe present problems are studied through and conclusions reached. In the end the people of our social order themselves must decide, the wiseness of their decision rests upon whether or not they are willing to study to reinforce themselves against insecurity and lack of opportunity. There is no other firm foundation. It is yet night, but not so dark that we cannot work.-Clitirles F. Saylor an rg' Ernest H. Stuempflc, Athletic Director, in chargeofartendance, History X and Xl. Miss Margaret Bow- master, Secretary to the Supervising Prin- cipal, and the one who helps us all do everything. Page 6 L
