Ffhe Statt Wlien someone mentions conventions we usuall think of sitting for hours V listening to man borin 1 lectures, but this was not one of that kind. lnstead we V L had some ver interesting s ealcers including Miss Anna ane Philli s of the Pitts- V 1- P P burgh Post Gazette who talked to us about the Experiences ofa Xxfoman Journa- list. One thing she stressed was that students who have worked on the school papers, are able to read a newspaper intelligently and that,is vitally important at the present time. A convention is not complete without some social activity and ours was a dance in the Imperial Ballroom of the Webster Hall with an orchestra from one ofthe Pittsburgh High Schools. The banquet was also held at Webster Hall and here we met many new friends among whom was a little English refugee. He had been in America onl three months. It was sur rising to hear him tell about all Y the battles that the British had won in the past wars. The last afternoon we were allowed to do an thin we wished-see a footballvame, fo sho in Y, visit Hein: Y li is l- PP 21 Plant or Buhl Plantetarium.
