--,, Science Club Take some NACL plus H20 equals water. That's just one of the things the M. H. S. Science Club has practiced. Simple, don't you think? At first only students carrying an A or B average in Science or Biology were eligible for membership. Since then an amendment has been added stating that any student interested in scientific research who presents a worthy project is quali- fied to become a member. As a member of the American Institute of Science and Engineering Clubs of New York any person in the chapter of Meyersdale High School Science Club may attend all science fairs and exhibitions by merely pre- senting his membership. Our aims in conducting this club are as follows: CD to increase our knowledge of science Q21 study the achievements of scientists and experimenters, UD to learn to experiment and to construct scientific exhibits and models, and HD to appre- ciate the importance of science in our lives. During the present school year the Science Club has made a study of polorized light, ozone generators and cosmetics. Each member is required to conduct one program and do some research work for the club. Money making schemes include only dues, the sale of name cards and conf ducting a booth at the P. T. A. Bazaar. J?-W l . '-Y 1-f gl, DECLTL D LCLTU5 january Z1-Dear Diary. . .It's now twelve o'clock and I just came home from the first senior dance. Leave it to the seniors to think up new and swell enter- tainment. Maybe I was the 11th, 12th, or 13th but, anyway, I got my 15? back and had one swell evening. . .for nothing. The first special dance ofthe evening was a Lemon Dance. Hilner, Reich and Gates were left holding the lemons and had to proceed to the stage where they ate them.. .much to our amusement. Gates still had a sour look on his puss when he escorted Red home. The next special was a Chair Dance and it was really sompin. Those poor little girls fCvetty, Floto, Tuscano, Grof, and Mimmie. . .just to mention a fewl looked so funny trucking with a collapsible chair. Talking about trucking Diver, Werner, Clay, Mary andI learned to tango. The seniors formed a dancing class which meets from 8 to 8:30 before every dance. Next month I must get Spike to teach me the grapevine. My best dances this evening?. . . Beat Me Daddy-Eight to the Bar with M. H. S's. original jitterbug Bard and It All Comes Back to Me Now with Casanova Critchfield. February 11-Dear Diary. . .Be still my heart. I got to dance with him this evening. Imagine me having luck enough to draw a heart with his name on it. And. . .to boot, he asked me to go to the Senior Prom with him in May. Judg- ing from inklings the Prom this year is to be much bigger and much better. But back to the Valentine Dance. This evening the girls were stuck with the lemons and Dwire, Fullem, and D'Amico put on a sour show. Late in the evening fnext to the last dance. . .kind of them, reallyl two boys fl-lady and Millerl put on a smelly show when they were left holding onions after the onion dance. The committee also had an Elimination Dance. All girls with red hair, all boys in saddle oxfords, bow ties, etc., were called from the stage. When they called some- thing that either you or your partner had on. . .both sat down. Left standing at the end of the dance was the lovable couple. . .T. T. T. Shipley and Oh Johnnie Speicher. My best dances this evening?. . . Star Dust with Always Smooth Bolden and Five O'clock Whistle with Andy. March 1-Dear Diary. . .The Spring Formal will be held May 16. Ican hardly wait. We plan to have jay Van's Orchestra of Cumberland, featuring their vocal- ist Bill Barrett. . .and he's got what it takes. February 28-Dear Diary. . .Didn't get home from school until five o'clock. Iwas on the committee for our next senior dance fMarch 171 and we had a meet- ing after school to decide on our plans. The first attraction will be a jitterbug con- test fcomplete with a prizel. Then, in order to be fair, we decided on a waltz contest for those who don't participate in the art of ujitterbuggingf' But wait that's not all. We are also going to play games in which everyone ffrom the lowly Freshmen to those bashful Senior boys who don't dancel can take part. Sounds like a grand evening to me. . .don't you think so??
