THE CLASS GF 1959 ITS HISTORY The Class ol l959 began with two hundred thirty eight members Remember how it was during those first months ol seventh grade how we had to adjust to new teachers and get to lcnow so many other students and manage to pass every subject in a strange big high school7 But those were the days of lun at pep meetings and lootball games and there was the Hallowe en Party and participation in some ot the clubs By eighth grade we got our tirst real chance to join the Pen Pal Club Glee Club Elmprint or play in the band or orchestra And how we did enjoy loolcing down on seventh graders and their confusion By this time we numbered only two hundred twenty one ln ninth grade came our lirst opportunity to malre an important decision that ot choosing our own course ol study At last we began to seem as important as we telt Tenth grade meant senior high school at last Can you ever torget how much bigger we got and how much smarter we lelt7 We lcnew a lot then and were welcome in all varsity sports the Modern Choir the Key Club the lvlajorettes and Strutters Now there were only two hundred three ol us but we tried to malce every one lcnow we were around Qur Junior year otlered such a whirlwind ot activity that we could hardly office in clubs and being very active in the Student Council lt was our class that initiated Fun Night which is to become traditroinal And what a Junior Prom we had all one hundred eighty tour ol us Were you there7 Our Senior year' We could hardly wait tor it and we sigh to see it nearly over What a year' We managed to weather bad times in sports without dampening our spirit This spirit showed itself in our leadership rn subscription and patron campaigns magaz ne sales the Prom the Senior Play the Concert And then there was Commencement with all its attend ant events the Outing Moving up Day Class Night Graduation itself and the alter graduation party True our numbers steadily decreased but we hope our lcnowledge increased ln May our class had dropped down to one hundred sixty tive and while we graduated even less than that all who stayed to the end and others who lett belore June telt a part of the Class ol 1959 , .
