MIAA Marian Hogg Dean, Director of Activities One with many responsibilities and each won- derfully fulfilled, Miss Marian Hogg has consis- tently produced praiseworthy results. Her wit and never failing enthusiasm were indispensible to the Colophon Staff. We thank her sincerely for her warm and helpful guidance. May all she undertakes continue to become an actuality. RETC NUrZEN ALLAN mm. lltaoel f:JanA Wood As we look back upon the past years we realize how much of a loss to us Mrs. Wood's marriage and move to Binghamton is to mean. A graduate of Mansfield State Teacher's College, and Syracuse University, she has also had additional study at Ithaca College of Music, Cornell, Pennsylvania State University, and Wilkes College. Before becoming a faculty member of Meyer's English Department, she taught music at Guthrie and Hoyt. At Meyers she has served on the Honor Society and Guidance committees among others, has helped develop Scholarship Day, and she arranged and wrote last year's T,V. program which so well portrayed our school. In the W.B.E.A. she has held important committee chairmanships, and was a four year delegate to P.S.E.A. She has given frequent addresses on the status of women and youth conservation before women's groups, P.T.A.'s, Wyoming Valley Women's Club, and others out of town. She is also an official board member of the First Metho- dist Church, and chairman of the Carpenter Memorial Concert Committee. As we say farewell to her as a member of our faculty, we know her time and talents will continue to serve others wherever she may go, Iliff. Wal-1-en grown The absence of Mr. Warren Brown, a member of our faculty, was greatly discernable this year. As physics teacher, Mr. Brown was regarded as a highly educated man by the students. He was a graduate of the Univer- sity of California. His children were Meyers students. He is the possessor of a heroic record in World War I, and his very shy manner and retiring disposition seem hardly understandable when we realize what a force for good he really was. Always a gentleman and always a good sport wherever he was, we know that his students in New Iersey will value his supervision as we did here. lllr. Rebel: Wood As head of the machine shop for the past twenty six years, Mr. Wood has displayed skill as well as the neces- sary understanding and patience so valuable in the teach- ing profession. He attended the Wilkes-Barre City schools, and received his Mechanical Engineering degree through the Penn State Extension and Scranton Corres- pondence Schools. Mr. Wood's family also attended Meyers. The exhibitions of work accomplished by his stu- dents have been exceptional, and show him to be a real artist in metal, and able to pass on his knowledge to de- voted students. We will always regard our association with him as a very valuable experience. lllr. john bulzu Retiring from the position of chief custodian, which he has held for twenty six years, Mr. Iohn Dukes leaves Meyers with a host of friends. While Mr. Dukes has been at Meyers, his children and now his grandchildren have been students. Besides being employed here at Meyers, Mr. Dukes was also a member of the Mainten- ance Staffs of Grant, North Main, and G.A.R. schools. He will long be thought of with admiration and apprecia- tion. So much has depended upon him, and he has given us so much that was extra and above the call of duty that we can feel that Meyers could hardly have gotten along without him. He has a place in our remembrance that will never be filled. ASSOCIATED WITH MR. DLIKES ARE ROBERT DAVIS. GOMER IONES. ROBERT YOUNG, ALBERT MILZ. AND CARL STEINHAUER. So now, to dear old Meyers High, We proudly stand and sing, While clear against the azure blue, Thy honored name we fling. Loud and long When we must leave thy guiding hand, To take our place in life, Then we will keep thy honor clear, Through all our joy and strife And when the hand of memory Rolls back time's gathering haze, We'll pause once more, as now we do, To sing again thy praise. His guitar playing and singing will capture any audience that has the good fortune to hear him. RHONA CHENETZ Woman's at best a contradiction still. It has been said that people with a strong desire to get places usually do. If this is true, we'd like you to meet a designer of the future. You can't . iss if you f s v 've f future the way you fashion your designs. .. gr N ' , , ' .igr ,Q-:rt , X x ,i itt - nse s- ki, .- r re ed by the best of men. Almost everyone knows him as active in football' and track, though his ambition is to become a commercial advertising artist. IOHN COURSEN Young in limbs, in judgment wise. It has been said, Silence is a virtue -we firmly believe this in Iohn's case. Here is a good-looking boy with a talent of knowing what to say and when to say it,-and more important-when not to. NANCE CRAZE Neat not gaudy. A hazel eyed beauty with talents to match. Nance's personality and understanding character make her a great friend to have. Land of Hope and Glory Clam Song Dear Meyers High, your hallowed halls on graduation day, Bring to our minds fond memories which we shall take away. We've spent six years of work and fun within these sacred walls. But now our 'paths will take us far, where other duty calls. We never shall forget you, or let your honor die. We'll carry on dear Meyers, with banner ever high. Words and Music by Margaret M. Kennedy ?afrewelI Seng To these, the halls of Meyers High, The ones we've loved so dear. On this, our graduation day, We say farewell fore'er. To teachers, classmates, one and all, We sing our parting song. We know we will remember them, All thru' the years to come. Now as we leave thy portals fair, We hail the blue and gold. We sing our songs of sad farewell, As our new life unfolds. Words and Music by William D. Peters Reverend Herbert S. Barrall Elgar lima lllatel- From hall and class thy students come, From fields thy warriors bold. To raise with honor, glory, love, The royal blue and gold. So now to dear old Meyers High We proudly stand and sing, While clear against the azure blue, Thy honored name we fling. CHORUS Loud and long Let us raise the song of glory As thy banners of truth Proudly fly. On through life, in our hearts We will cherish Steadfast forever, Meyers High. When we must leave thy guiding hand To take our lace in life, Then we will, keep thy honor clear Through all our joy and strife. And when the hand of memory Rolls hack times gathering haze, We'll pause once more, as now we do, To sing again thy praise.
