Line was born at Alberts, and spent his boyhood days in the Mountain Top area. He was a graduate of Greenville College, Illinois, where he taught for several years prior to his association with the Wilkes-Barre City Schools. Mr. Line taught at Coughlin High School for twelve years, and had been at Meyers for twenty years, specializing in history and economics. He had a great love of the outdoors. His hobby was hunting, and he was constantly campaigning for reforestation and the preservation of wild life. Every year he planted hundreds of new trees and saw to it that bushels of food were distributed regularly throughout the winter at Mountain Top to help keep deer, rabbits and other wild creatures alive. He had a democratic method of thinking and teaching, and emphasized racial and religious tolerance. His remarkable wealth of information concern- ing world affairs and religion was as wide as his general knowledge. His humorous side, chiefly evident in his classes, taught much of life besides history, and held many students interest through his clever combining of wit and wisdom.
