HAROLD A. LINE Harold A. Line was born at Alberts, and spent his boyhood days in the Mountain Top area. He was a graduate of Greenville College, Illinois, where he taught for several years prior to his association with the Wilkes-Barre City Schools. Mr. Line taught at Coughlin High School for twelve years, and had been at Meyers for twenty years, specializing in history and economics. He had a great love of the outdoors. His hobby was hunting, and he was constantly campaigning for reforestation and the preservation of wild life. Every year he planted hundreds of new trees and saw to it that bushels of food were distributed regularly throughout the winter at Mountain Top to help keep deer, rabbits and other wild creatures alive. He had a democratic method of thinking and teaching, and emphasized racial and religious tolerance. His remarkable wealth of information concern- ing world affairs and religion was as wide as his general knowledge. His humorous side, chiefly evident in his classes, taught much of life besides history, and held many students interest through his clever combining of wit and wisdom. 1' tll h I Q9 .x L 9 v' Es B ,rf rr -f A. tl ' PT , ,iv f ' f.'j'1 9 Il ll, --ilvihi' El 2 1 I' - i w. Best of luck to you, Ieanne. CARL CAVANAUGH Carl's positions as president of both the M Club and Senior Council prove his popularity and also that he is well- known. To mention his blue eyes and long lashes would just embarrass him, so we wonit. We don't like loosing you, Cav. EUGENE CHISMER Practically all of Eugene's thoughts in- clude girls. The rest of them comprise joking. This can be proven by the fact that there is always a crowd around him. If you ever need a helping hand, just call on Chis. MARTIN COOK Marty's special and expensive hobby is throwing parties. This, along with be- ing a pin boy in a bowling alley, takes up most of his spare time. After leav- ing school he intends to join the Mar- ines. EDITH CORNELL Look for the silver lining is an appro- priate song for Edith. She is always looking on the bright side of things. There are some mighty nice things in store for Dot, and we know she will use them to the best of her ability. NORMAN EVANS Tall, masculine Nitney. Quite an athlete is Norman. This was proved by his end position on the football field. He has brains galore, but one of the first to disrupt a class with his funny antics. Her dimples are her greatest asset and skating is her fav- orite hobby. Keep laughing, Betty. You will get along. RUTH FERGUSON Don't measure Fergie's individuality by her size. She is small of stature, but big of heart with the most cheerful grin. Ruth makes a hit with anyone and we know success is right around the corner for her. IEAN FILLISTINE Long, brunette hair, gleaming white teeth, peaches and cream complexion, and sparkling eyes all add up to meke our strutting majorette, Jeannie. Her engagement was first among the senior girls and is an example of her attraction to the opposite sex. EUGENE FINKELSTEIN Do you have a problem? If you do, go to Fink with it. Eugene is a brainy guy. Some of his statements astound his fellow students. Besides being smart, he can make it with jokes anytime. ALICE FRAIL Alice is never without a new flame and who can blame anybody for preferring those pretty brown eyes and wavy hair. She loves to dance and is an interesting conversationalist. Full of fun describes her also. She is always doing some- thing unusual. ESTHER FRANCHI i'The most talkingest girl in town. Someone once wrote this song about Es'. If you don't think it suits her then get to know this minature parrot. Although Es is quite independent, she has swarms of friends. What a gal, most of them are boys! DONALD F REY If you are having a dull time, my advice is to go and see Frey. His wonderful sense of humor has lightened many dull moments. Don's friendly smile was es- pecially attracting during cheerleading this year. Here's luck to a great guy. PHILIP GALLAGHER Shy? Quiet? You would never believe this by the flock of friends Phil has. When you get to know Phil, you will find that this is just a front for a swell guy who is full of fun. NORMAN GATES Who is that tall blond? they ask. That is Normanli' we say. Norman has a geometrical mind and great foot- ball ability. Ask Norm if they go well together. He should know. BARBARA GEARHART If we had a list of best dressed women, Barb would certainly head it. With her raven hair. and beauti- ful smile she makes anyone happy just to look at her. Luck. Betty. although you probably won't need any. REVA GOSS Silence is a virtue, one which Rita pos- sesses. She has a ready laugh and can be as noisy as the next one at the prop- er time. Some boss will have an under- standing secretary. THOMAS GOULDEN Tommie certainly doesn't believe in the old saying, Silence is Golden. He is never without some comment or argu- ment to dish out. This, along with his stupendous personality, is sure to be an asset to him in college. AUDREY GREEN Sweet eyes, soft glances and a dynamic personality can add up to only one per- son - - Audrey Green. With such assets as these she is sure to succeed in her ambition of nursing. Savigc Class Song Alma Mater CLASS SONG With joyous voices now we sing Praise to Meyers High Endless devotion ever bring As years go swiftly by. CHORUS Loud and long we sing this song to you our Alma Mater strong Sadly we leave friendly halls to tread the road of life. We will always think of you Our Alma Mater true While we work our long life tthrough We'll ever sing your praise. Music: Nancy Thomas Words: Barbara Gearhart FAREWELL SONG Farewell to our classmates The finest in the land And their helping hand The memories of Meyers Will forever stay We'll think of you often Though we're far away. CHORUS The hour is nigh When you and I Must say to each adieu It's hard to feel This day is real Our high school days are through And as we go our faces show A tear in every eye Our hearts will grieve We hate to leave Meyers High Words: Heather Brooks Music: Ierris Miller Farewell Song ALMA MATER From hall and class thy students come, From fields thy warriors bold To raise with honor, glory, love, The royal blue and gold. So now, to dear old Meyers High, We proudly stand and sing, While clear against the azure blue, Thy honored name we fling. When we must leave thy guiding hand, To take our place in life, Then we will keep thy honor clear, Through all our joy and strife And when the hand of memory Rolls back time's gathering haze, We'll pause once more, as now we do, To sing again thy praise. CHORUS Loud and long Let us raise the song of glory As thy banners of truth Proudly fly On through life, in our hearts We will cherish Steadfast forever, Meyers High.
