From these illustrious horsemen was derived the printer's mark, the colophon, used to signify the completion of a publication. I Through the portals of Meyers each year pass some two-hundred students as a graduating class. And so it is that our Colophon is not so much an ending as it is a beginning--a beginning of a life in a world where our high school training may be the basis of our reputation. May this, our annual publication, renew the memories of the happy times we've had within the golden walls of our Alma Mater. To turn these pages will be to live again at Meyers. MCGOWAN We, the Class of Nineteen Forty-Nine, wish to dedicate this, our Colophon, to that outstanding character of our senior year, our class advisor, Mr. James J. McGowan. There is not one of us who does not look to Mr. McGowan without a feeling of deep appreciation and high admiration. Our interests were his interests - - our desires, his commands. We are sure that through his guidance, we, the Class of Forty-Nine, will always uphold the spirit and tradition of our Alma Mater. FACULT ITEIQ J. FRANCK DENNIS, Principal H.
