EDITORIALS BE PRIZPARHD A 'lifwngftl lim' 19,59 .tml The llflfllll' ln the year of 1909 the Boy Scouts of America first took foothold in this country, 'lihey, with their leaders and instructors, have helped to pave a way for the youth of our nation to follow, But perhaps most important to us today is their motto which they have followed through thirty years of work, Be Prepared . Now, in 1959. we, citizens of United States, have come to realize what an important part these two words have COIDC to play in otir lives. All over the world these words have be- come the key-note for prime ministers, kings. and dictators to follow, Countries are straining with all their might to keep tip their national de- fense, 'ijust in case , Germany is building her army tip to be one of the largest and most power- ful in the world. lfrance is increasing her air force and our own U. S .Aa under the guiding hand of otir president is being put on a defensive basis. But this motto does not only apply to national defense. but also to personal defense, lf we will adjust our lives and be prepared for whatever may happen, we will not be surprised when it does happen, Instead of meditating over what has happened in the past, why not find out what was the matter with our defense and then be more prepared for the future? There are those who would advise us to let the future take care of itself but we know that if we adopt this policy we will be continually behind the eight ball . So for '39 and the future let us take into our lives both personally and nationally the motto which has proved to be the guiding light for 1 great and strong organization and put it into use. All loyal students of Mexico High sthool take an active interest in some school attiyities, This doesnt mean that one must he a football or basketball star or a second fireta fiarbo. lf simply means that out should loyally and Hill' ingly support the different activities and ttrganiaas tions sponsored by Mexico High. 'l'his work brings up-to' date the various provisions affecting the students faculty relationship of the democratic school ol Pintos and Pintoettes. The splendid trophy cabinet in the front lobby is the gift of the XValton Lodge, Knights ol Pythias. Constructed. by their members, this the appearance of the installed and Yelvetfltned addition greatly improved front hall. XY'ith such a fine place to display our ltest possessions. the Student Council has decided to award individual medals to graduation cu medals will now be the fortunate winners, while p winners hereafter.
