20 THE PEP ctw AAAA A e A A Amerie-sf ef ff True leadership in a boy is shown by the way he treats his fellow mates. He will put their interests be- fore his own and will not be afraid to lend them a helping hand, Many of the supposed leaders of a school go to school gatherings or socials and will hard- ly recognize a fellow mate xx ho really. in truth. has tar more to be proud of than the supposed leader. lfor it one is brilliant in one line of work. another might be just as brilliant in another, A true leader is always courteous to everyone, no matter if he is not as popular as they. One should keep in mind that everyone can not be popular, and if he is lucky enough to be so, he has to remember not to abuse the popularity. For nothing stays long if it is abused. A leader in sports is not one who will try to make all the honors for himself. but rarher help the other members of the team to get the points. Let us see, in the future. that our leaders get all the recognition that is deserved. and let the one who is always trying to boss talk to empty air. 7 Pifriuif ' THII OPENING DAY Ulf SLHOOI. Students are scurrying here and there. teachers are trying to quiet them. and Freshmen are continually losing their way about the school. Books are distributed and all one hears is the num- bers of text books. lt sounds similar to a report of the stock market. Seats are being assigned and names are being learned. New students are becoming acclimat- ed and teachers are getting acquainted with the pupils. Xlfliispering. talking. and laughing makes the school sound like a movie house when the cast is focussed on the screen. Laughing girls are standing in the corners. telling of some vacation event and adventure. Some are strutting about. showing oil: new dresses and styles. and oodles of other small things familiar to the fe- male sex. School on the opening day sounds like a circus ground on a hot summer day.
