Preliminaries for the Oxford County Speaking Contest to be held May 4 at Canton High School were held Monday, April 10, at the high school with 19 entries from which 10 xy ere picked to compete rn the semi nnal Frrdu night April 24 at the Prntonra Hall when thc winner will be selected to represent Mexico in the County contest at Canton The 10 speakers were Bernard Duben dir Arthur Frecker Richard 'Dental Cm 1 eiizons . .... - 1.1. eiT...fii Mendall, Joseph Pensiero, Her- bert Swett, Leona Allen, Mary Fisher, Evelyn Hunt, Thelma Marble, and Beatrice Small. They were coached by Bea- trice Childs. The judges were Rev. Willard Palmer and Leon Small. At the semi finals Thelma Marble was chosen the best speaker. Evelyn Hunt was judged the best girl speaker, and Arthur Frecker the best boy speaker.
