We the Class of 55 WlSh to pay due respect to Miss Amy Isabel Battles for her undylng mterest m the personal dreams of others, for her ab1l1ty to lnduce us will xngly to hltch our wagons to a star and, for her ab1l1ty to ll1Sp1I'6 us to reach that star DEDICATION AMY BATTLES Mlss Battles attended Oswego Hlgh School where she was a member of the Owls Head Honorary Soclety After her graduatlon 1n 1937 sh continued her tralmng at Coe College ln Cedar Rap1ds Iowa Whlle there she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta a soc1a1 sororlty Ph1 Slgma Iota an honor ary language soclety and P1 Lambda Theta an honorary ducatlonal soclety Upon graduatlon ln 1941 she taught In the La Mertle Consohdated School for one year 1942 found her teachlng ln the Melbourne Consolldated School Both of these are secondary schools ln Iowa In 1943 w flnd M1ss Battles at MACS teachmg nmth grade Engllsh and social studles She contlnued m thls fleld whlle working for her M A 1n edu catlon and certlflcatlon in soc1a1 studles whlch she earned ln 1947 from Syracuse Universlty Then IH 1952 she became part tlme guldance dir ctor but still taught soc1a1 studles In 1953 she became full tlme guldance counselor and 1n the fall of 1954 she was relieved of her teachmg 1n order that she could devote all her efforts to guidance At present she IS a member of the New York State Teachers Assoc1at'on and of th Unlverslty Womens Club of Oswego She also has 30 semester hours of guidance past her masters degree Her hobbles lnclude gardemng reading and antlques Thus for your youthful energy expended for the students of MACS we wish to dedlcate to you Mlss Battles thxs 1955 lssue of The MEXICOHIHH 0 7 ' , k 7 . - 1 1 . . . 2 . , V , . v 1 1 ' W 1 .
