It is fitting that its highlights should be pre served, and we are fortunate in having a High School Annual to portray and hold these incidents and occasions for our reference and pleasure. To me it has been a very fine year, not only for what we have achieved but for the willingness and cooperation of all who have had a part in it. My life has been enriched and my desire for service enhanced. It is a real pleasure to work in this system with such a fine student body, and I trust your appreciation of your school will continue and grow as the years go by. Congratulation to all who have had any part in preparing HThe Black Catn of '48-'49. Sincerely, 1-.7 C. S. Hereford CSH.wmd Martha Montgomery Fall Semester Mrs. Wcta Denton Spring Semester P R N C P A L I I D Ru. To the Students of Mexia High: Mexia High has gone a long way toward its aims and ambitions with your work and leadership. Like the 49'ers of a hundred years ago, the way hasn't been easy and sometimes we haven't found our Npay dirtn but your efforts haven't been wasted. It's been a good year and its accomplishments speak well of you. As you leave our school and its faculty behind, remember to keep seeking your gold,-not the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, for wishful dreaming gets you nowhere, but that gold that must be planned for, worked for and earned. Too, remember, that gold can have a mean- ing besides money. It can mean happiness, success, a good home and family, and most of all, a place have attained by your efforts. of your own under the sun, which you Sincerely yours, JGWZHX 9 Mrs. Dorothy Enloe Sec. to Principal MRS. LORENE DAILEY Each year it is the policy of the Mexia High School Faculty to choose from the senior class ten students to repre- sent the Who's Who and Why section of our annual. These young people are chosen for the part they have taken in high school lifeg their value as a citizen to the school and its activities. Outstanding scholarship is vital, but unless a student gives more to his school than class grades, high school days would be dull days and none of our activities would exist.
