While we were sitting in our air conditioned home one hot July afternoon, reading the sports section of the paper, we saw that David Cole was to fight for the heavy-weight championship of the world in Madison Square Garden that night. Immediately we got into our private jet plane and soon we were in New York. When we landed in New York we hired a taxi to take us to our destination. However, as soon as we got into the taxi we noticed something familiar about the style of driving and soon realized that the driver could be none other than Glen Morrison. At one of the intersections a Police Patrol Car fell in behind us and we had to slow down. As we were driving along, an atomic powered Cadillac suddenly pulled out from the curb and smashed into one of our front fenders. We soon found that the driver was LoLene Walters and that she had just come downtown to one of her restaurants, as she now has 20 of them in New York. We were also very much surprised to find that the investi- gating officer, the one that had been following us, was Harold Hornbrook. After Harold had told us of some of his experiences on the force we went to LoLene's house for dinner. She wouldn't let us eat at one of her restaurants because she said the food was terrible. After dinner we continued on our way to Madison Square Garden. The fight was terrific with David on the receiving end until the l4th round when David landed a lucky punch and knocked out the champ to become the new heavy-weight champion. After the fight we found David, and while we were talking he said that he had heard that Roger Stultz was living near Fairbanks, Alaska. When we arrived in Fairbanks we soon found that Roger had acquired a large gold mine about 5 miles from town. When we found Roger he was certainly surpr ised to see us. After he had told us some of the jokes that he had heard, he said that he understood that Don Wisner was in Washington. Soon we were on our way to Washington. When we arrived in Washington we soon found Don as the president's budget keeper. The Democrats finally got another man in office. Don invited us to his horne, which was very modest - only 24 rooms. Of course, Don's wife was away to a bridge party and didn't get home until 7:30, so we ate dinner in a res- taurant, the most expensive in Washington. Don said that while he was reading a movie magazine, on the people's time, he found that Martha Fraley was in Holly- wood. The next morning, after a night in Don's home,we left for Hollywood. When we arrived we soon found that Martha was married to one of the most famous ac- tors in Hollywood and that they had two sons. She also told us that Lee Smith was in Paris, so soon we were on our way to Paris. When we arrived we were very much surprised to be told that Lee was one of the most famous dress designers in the world. We found Lee, very much enjoying his work. Lee said that Joann Bur- fcontinued on next pagel Complirnents of FOSTE.R'S CASH STORE Men's and Boys' Clothing - Shoes and Furnishings Lamb-Knit School and Award Sweaters Edon Ohio rell was also in Paris, where she was happily married to Johnny, and that she was teaching in one of the Paris schools. We didn't have much trouble finding the school. but when we walked into Joann's room our hopes were all lost, for we thought Joann had lost some of her marbles. She was giving the children S1000 bills. However, when we asked her why, she said that to avoid income tax, she gave the children S1000 bills instead of gold stars for good grades. Joann also informed us that Ronald Sowles was in Miami, Florida. Soon we were on our way back to the states, and before long we were in Miami. When we landed we soon saw billboards all over the place advertising the greatest trapeze performer in the world, Ronald Sowles. They said also that he was giving a performance that night. We got tickets for the performance and it really was a thrilling affair. After it was over we found Ronald and while we were discussing the old class he said that Neil Brooks was in Boston. The next morning we left for Boston, soon to be there. We found Neil, his wife, and seven children in their forty- five room suburban mansion. Talking to Neil we found that he had become an archi- tect and that he was now working on a church which was to be the largest church in the world when it was finished. Neil informed us that Paul Soule was in Colorado, so soon we were on our way to Paul's ranch near Denver. When we landed at the ranch Paul was washing one of his Chryslers. We found that Paul was married to a former Metz girl. Paul said that he had heard that Wendell and Shirley were now living in Wisconsin. Before long we found ourselves landing at a 250 acre dairy farm where we found Shirley and Wendell, and soon we realized that Betty Wolff was still in Indi- ana. We stayed there until morning when we left for good old Metz to a 175 acre completely Case equipped farm. While we were talking with Betty about our senior year at Metz she said that Marlene Eyster was in Tennessee. In about five minutes we arrived in Tennessee where we found Marlene, Walter and their 10 children ad- miring their 10 oil wells. f+ ff Laugh and the world laugh with you Weep and you weep alone For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth - I ., 5 1 'J- , A '. Naturally they were frightened and undecided whether to stay without their Mothers. With these ten and the addition of six others there were sixteen to grad- uate in the class of 53 . Those who started the long journey of school in the first grade were:Neil Brooks, Marlene Eyster, Martha Fraley, Wendell Gilbert, Harold Horn- brook, Don Wisner, Paul Soule, Joann Burrell, Shirley Lockhart, and LoLene Walters. Betty Wolff entered during the 3rd year from Montpe- lier, Ohio. Roger Stultz entered during the 4th year from Antwerp, Ohio, also Glen Morrison in the same year from Fremont, Indiana. During the sixth grade we had one addition from Garry, Indiana, who was David Cole. Going to the seventh year Lee Smith came to join us from Scott Center. Our last addition was Ronnie Sowles who entered during the eighth grade from St. John's school south of Auburn, Indiana. Our grade teachers were: Miss Mainland, Mrs. Carol CEysterJ Coffman, Mrs. Fern Hand, Mrs. Frances Andres, Mr. Clarence Dirrim, and Mr. Russell Brayton. Then came the great step of our school career! We entered High School. Our sponsor was Miss I-lutson. Our next great worry was how the soph- omores were going to initiate us. In spite of little as scrubbing the side- walk with tooth brushes, washing windows, eating frog eyes, walking on noodles and other terrible things. Om' Junior year was busy so that it buzzed right by. The most important event last year was the Junior play Rest Assured which was a big hit. Our Directors were Mr. McKenzie and Mr. Brayton. With a flash the year was here which all of us had sweat for - our Senior Year . If God permits there will be sixteen seniors graduating this coming May. We are: Neil Brooks, Joann Burrell, David Cole, Marlene Eyster, Martha Fraley, Wendell Gilbert, Harold Hornbrook, Shirley Lock- hart, Glen Morrison, Lee Smith, Ronnie Sowles, Roger Stultz, Paul Sowles, Roger Stultz, Paul Soule, LoLene Walters, Betty Wolff, and Don Wisner. As the season came to a close there was only a four way tiefor 3rd and 4th place in the County, between Scott C., Salem Center, Flint, and Metz. Metz played Scott for the third place and Flint played Salem for fourth place. Then as the tourney ended Metz was playing Flint in the final game of the tourney. Flint was the winner of the 1952-53 baseball Championship. Metz was the r unner -up. The scores of the Games were as follows: Metz 8 Fremont 2 Scott Center 2 Orland l Flint 4 Salem Center ' 3 Hamilton 23 P. Lake Playoff for third place Metz Scott Center County Tourney Metz 2 Fremont Metz l Flint Name S. Griffiths D. Fisher R. Stultz M. Cleckner L. Burns H. Buell I. Stultz L. Snyder W. Gilbert D. F 000 FIRST TEAM BASKETBALL As we started our journey through the basketball season this year we came up against P. Lake as our first challenger. In our first game we were beaten 57 to 54. As our journey proceeded we played Hamilton and were beaten 56 to 44 While still recovering from the whipping Hamilton had given us, Scott Center stepped in and opened the wound deeper by beating us 72 to 38. With our wound well on the way to recovery we went up against the unbeaten Salem Cardinals only to have the wound reopened by taking a defeat of 55 to 32. We crossed the State line to try our luck. In Ohio we came up against the Edon Bombers and here we had the toughest game of the year. It was a fight to the finish with the Bombers beating us 53 to 45. We came home to face the Orland Tigers. We fought and fought but we just couldn't get out of the reach of the Tiger's paws and were crushed by the score of 69 to 50. Mr. Boling poured pearls of wis- dom into the boys' ears when we came up against the Mongo Dragons. The pearl of wisdom paid off as we beat Mongo 77 to 46. After winning our first victory our wound was completely healed and no team could even reopen it after we hadwon such a great victory. Much of our dislike the Fremont Eagles gave ua a severe lashing of 66 to 50. After so many beatings, we were able to accept defeat. We then entered the County Tourney to meet head on with the Scott Center Bulldogs. The Bulldogs nipped us and sent us howling back home. The rest of our games we played this year were not to successful but we did our best. All our game scores were in the forties and fifties, but the other teams just seemed to overpower us. Anyway, Sportsmanship plays the most important part in a ballgamef SECOND TEAM BASKETBALL The second team started off with a bang by beating P. Lake 59 to 22. Our next gamewas with Hamilton. We beat them 43 to 42. Next we came up against the Scott Center Bulldogs and here we beat them 58 to 17. By this time we were beginning to feel proudof ourselves and as thegames went on we won our games without a'ny trouble. We played Salem and didn't have any trouble beating them by a score of 41 to 34. Then we came up against the Edon Bombers and here we had quite a time beating, but we finally came out on top by a score of 36 to 35. It was a rough and tough game from beginning to end. Next came the game with Mongo and here we didn't have to work to win. We beat them 61 to l9.Then we came up against the unbeaten Fremont Eagles It was here the Eagles meet defeat. We entered the County Tourney and came out on top as the County Champions. We are looking forward to taking another championship within the next comming years.
