Several of the seniors were talking among themselves- when Audrey Payne remarked, UI wonder what became of the class of 1940. It was unusually small and I remember that Gene in his sophomore year was so set on getting to be on the first nine of the basket- ball team but alas! James Cox and all of his fancy playing made Gene look rather e1umsy.H Peggy Tough answered, nOh, Richard Yeates married someone but they were divorced within a year3'His wife charged him with smil- ing too much. She said that he smiled even when he was angry with her. Richard is working like a dog to pay the S100 a month alimony she asked. Then the conversation was centered around isuch little words as these: James Cox married Opal Bond when he graduated but they as a whole couldn't get along. They argued about who was the better basketball player. Even with his broken heart, James tried to forget Opal and applied his ability to play ball to a career. He is now basketball coach at the University of Missouri. Betty Finch, after her marriage to Francis Dawson a year be- fore decided that marriage wasn't exciting so she began her career as a journalist. She is now making great progress as a fashion editor of, the New York Times. Doris Liles and Homer Lyons are still sweethearts. Homer is a great medical doctor and Doris took nurses' training in the hospital in which he is an interne. She is an air hostess now. 1 Gera Johnson is a member of the United States Senate. Gera's practice as an orator in her senior year gave her a great lift in gaining this position. V .Dorothy McGinnis, the accurate commerce student is doing work as a private secretary in a great manufacturer's office in Chicago, I linois. , 1 Karol Ann Wilson smiled and said, ul hope our senior class prophecy doesn't look this way.H X, ,,, Rosemary Miss Mar Jane Pe Roger K1 Alec St Poppy F ?Q?.2.fl1l?..g.
