This course is offered each fall, after which an exami- nation must be passed. The new staff member has a choice of working on any of the four pages. Page one consists of news articles while page two deals with editorials and junior high news. Timeless features and humorous ar- ticles maybe found on page three, and page four handles all sports news. Reporters work with one of four editors. They are the Editor-In-Chief. the Associate Editor, and the Feature and Sports Editors. Other editors include the Exchange Edi- tor who gathers news from other schools, and the Art Editor who is in charge of cartoons and any other art work. The Copy Editor reads material before and after the Bark goes to press: his job is to see that all errors are corrected before the final edition is released. Since its organization in 1948 by Miss Lieber Anker, faculty adviser, the Bulldog's Bark has soared to new heights, Last year at the Columbia Scholastic Press Associa- tion llonvention, it ranked with other first place entries for the fourth suceesive year. In May 1957, an active chapter of the National Honor Society, sponsored by Miss Anne W. Hydo, was added to Metuchen High School's extra-curricular offerings. Previously, member- ship in the Society had consisted merely of having oneis name read at graduation ceremonies and receiving a certificate and key at that time. In its new capacity, N.H.S. expended consid- erable effort to prepare its first induction at which time juniors and additional seniors were added to the original eleven members. Faculty administration, and Board of Education mem- bers also participated in this impressive cere- mony. Four of the five leading hitters of last year's team are returning. They are Robert Kossick and Joseph Leiss, seniors, and Richard Grohen and Sal Pura, juniors. Kos:-sick is considered one of the best outfielders in the area while Leiss and Puca either pitch or play the outfield. Groben guards third hase. With some able JV players coming up, the varsity squad should have balance and team strength. Last year, Donald Burns did a laudable job on the mound while David Lapp was an excellent hitter.
