CLASS HISTORY WE LL HAVE THESE MOMENTS TO REMEMBER the f1rst day we as t1m1d fresh men walked down the halls of Metuchen Hlgh School the gruellng general sc1ence cycle tests and the struggle many of us had wxth Lat1n declenslons THE QUIET TALKS wc had concermng class offlcers wh1ch f1nally saw Steve Buck ley pres1dent Jul1us Balog v1ce pres1dent Barbara Hutchlns secretary and Barbara Brmk treasurer THE NOISY FUN preparxng murals and all sorts of decoratlons for our frosh dance the theme be1ng Over the Ra1nbow WE LL HAVE THESE MOMENTS TO REMEMBER electloneermg for our sopho more offlcers resultlng ln the vlctory of Pete Kramer as pres1dent an offxce whlch he was dest1ned to hold for the next three years Steve Buckley v1ce pres1dent Adrlenne Gostln secretary and Robert Jochen treasurer and our glrls 1n1t1at1ng the trad1 t1on of serv1ng refreshments to the basketball teams after each game 1n the hopes of pro motlng good sportsmanshlp THE DAY WE HELPED TEAR THE GOAL POST DOWN when our herolc Bull by beatlng thelr arch rlvals for the f1rst t1me 1n seven years Thns was the year we moved to warmer cllmates as we enthus1 astlcally prepared for our hlghly sucessful soph hop Hawauan Paradlse 54 also saw one of our classmates as an off1cer of the Student Government After exuberant cam palgns on the part of four classmates Barbara Hutchms was elected v1ce pres1dent of the school WE LL HAVE THESE MOMENTS TO REMEMBER Allen Muglla Patt1 Totten and Bernard Marks were chosen v1ce pres1dent secretary and treasurer respectlvely t asslst Pete Kramer pres1dent as jumor class offlcers For the f1rst t1me we saw SIX of our g1rls cheermg the football team on to vlctory Leadmg the cheerlng spectators were Peggy PIISCOC BarbaraHutch1ns Susan Kempf Carol Muha Pamela Alexander and Beverly H1cks who were startmg the1r careers as Metuchen H1gh cheerleaders March 18 brought two thlngs to New York snow and the Jumor class as we journeyed on our f1rst class trnp to the Umted Natxons and to the Warner Theater to see Cmerama Hollday The rexgns of the Bulldog s Bark changed hands 1n Aprxl when the Edltor 1n Chxef handed hls pos1t1on over to Adrlenne Gost1n Wlth Steve Buckley as Assoclate Edltor Esther Garrecht and Roberta Eager as Page Two Edltors Pat Schoenhut as Feature Fdltor and W1ll1am Wexant Sports Edltor Blue Letter had a new person at 1ts head for Cynthla W1ll became yearbook edltor Th1s memorable month after long and hard campa1gns placed Pattx Totten 1n the seat of pres1dent of the Student Counc1l Htgh struttlng Peggy Dunham and Helen Demarest were chosen to lead next year s band as Drum Majorette and Capta1n of the Tw1rlers respectlvely Our Jumor year came to a colorful endmg w1th the then popular mambo Cherry Plnk and Apple Blossom Whlte provldlng the theme for our J unlor Senlor Prom WE LL HAVE THESE MOMENTS TO REMEMBER the f1rst day we the class of 1956 entered Metuchen Hlgh School through the sen1or door One o clock mstead of flndlng us returmng after lunch for flfth perlod found us leav1ng for the day as Metuchen Hlgh embarked on 1ts f1rst year of double SESSIONS Wlth Pete Kramer pres1dent Pat Schoen tary and Steve Buckley treasurer leadmg the class we the semors followed wlth many fxrsts for M H S the f1rst Pep Dance co sponsored by the Student Counc1l and Bull dog s Bark at whlch Sue Chandler was crowned Football Queen for the 1955 56 season Qshe was chosen bv the football team and student body out of s1x sen1or con testantsj the f1rst evenmg Chrlstmas Concert presented by the jumor and semor hlgh Glee Clubs the f1rst Student Counc1l had the f1rst v1ce pr1nc1pal 1n the hlstory ofM H S Mr Joseph Nlxon and the f1rst Twlrp Week Among our moments to remember w1ll be the unforgettable sen1or class presentatlon of the Pulltzer Prlze wmnmg play Harvey Of course we ll never forget our sen1or dance and the stupendous prom the Jumor class gave us W1th the commg of June comes the day we ve both dreamed and dreaded when the class of 1956 w1Il graduate ALTHOUGH SUMMER TURNS TO WINTER AND THE PRESENT DISAPPEARS THE LAUGHTER WE WERE GLAD TO SHARE WILL ECHO THROUGH THE YEARS WHEN OTHER NIGHTS AND OTHER DAYS MAY FIND US GONE OUR SEPARATE WAYS WE LL HAVE THESE MOMENTS TO REMEMBER!! , . . . . . g . . . - . . . y ' . . . , A 1 4 I I ' Q ' .
