HONOR SOCIETY UVVe, the newly elected memhers of the Honor Society do solemnly pledge ourselves to maintain our high scholarship, to preserve our good character, and to continue our service to the end that we shall leave this school hetter and lziner than we at first found itf, This oath. which is talcen hy every memher ol the Honor Society, states hrielly. but nevertheless completely, the hasic purpose of the Society. Unlilce many other similar organizations, lVletropolitan's Honor Society seelcs the well-rounded student. Standards of admission are not unusually high, hut they are unusually varied. Satisfactory scholarship is fundamen- tal, hoth in shop and academic worlcg commendable character traits are essentialg good health and good attendance are required, and finally, a moderate amount ol service to the school community is needed. Vvhile the Honor Society does not exclude the very hright student or the very active student, students with either of these traits alone, will not secure admission. The Honor Society is still young, and still growing. lts goal is not a restricted membership ol 50 or 60 students, hut ol l,000, 2000, even 3,000 students: its goal is to transform the Honor Society into an Honor School.
