THEY DO NOT FIGHT IN VAIN In times like these, one is forced, whether he will or not, to reflect on what values there are to helieve inf-fthe rest of the world, all else is in chaos. It is the common decision of the United Nations that the dignity of man, the rights of individuals, the friendship and mutual consideration of peoples are the things of value and are worth fighting for. We, in Metropolitan, can well understand and heartily affirm these aims. It has ever been our wish to tive with one another in amity, to respect differing ideas, to enjoy each other,s company and to pursue our individual tasks, without being hlind to the desires and rights of others. For four years we have strived to achieve these aims. We have not com- pletely succeeded. We made mistakes just as the world did. But it has awakened to its past errors and we in turn, heing a part of a greater whole, have seen ours, as well. The trials through which we have passed,-the school as well as our nation, have not heen in vain. The hour of need has welded a common and harmonious humanity and together we will go forward to win the vic- tory tor the huiiding of a new world. JACK COHEN
