This group of enthusiastic and energetic men and women met weekly, and at least twice a month they entertained guest speakers. A primary purpose of the club was to enable its members to hear first hand the opinions of persons representing a variety of community and political viewpoints. The guest speakers included, among others, Rep- resentative Richard Bolling, a local editor, a representative of the John Birch Society, a widely-known local broadcaster, and Dr. Josef Von Addle- hofer lreally Lt. Joe Adelman of the Police Departmentl, who combined in- formation with humor. The Club had many members, but was proud ofthe number of interested students who visited its meetings to hear speakers. Posters were used to publi- cize meetings, but its best advertisers were those who attended meetings Political Science Club officers were Miles L. Bair, chair., Richard Wholf, co-chair., and Barbara Butler,sec.-treas. Top Photo: Miles Bair, second from right, attempted to hold questions to a minimum when representatives of the John Birch Society were permitted to voice their beliefs at a club meeting. Many students and teachers went away dissatisfied with the answers given but were glad to have the opportunity to de- cide for themselves. Center Photo: Congressman Richard Bolling, of Kan- sas City, was greeted by a fine group of students when he spoke to the Political Science Club last tall. Lower Photo: To present an unusual program and to have the opportunity to ask questions about the K.C. Police Dept. Lt. Joe Adelman presented himself to the Club as Professor Von Addlehofer, a nuclear scientist, and provided its members with many laughs.
