Mrs. Beardsley's first reaction of the yearbook dedication -shocked disbelief and humble appreciation. Now what if we approach it this way? One of Mrs. Beardsley’s virtues is her thorough explanations of complicated problems. Right: Mrs. Beardsley works during noon Mu Alpha Theta meeting to produce interesting material for math students.

Only once in a great while does one find a truly outstanding school with an equally outstanding teacher. Metropolis Community High School is such a school and Mrs. Elizabeth Beardsley is such a teacher. For the past seventeen years Mrs. Beardsley has been giving unceasingly of her energies for the education of the students of Metropolis Community High School. She has been instrumental in the introduction and explanation of several new mathematical concepts, and her constant efforts to help each and every student have given her great distinction. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and her Master of Science of Education from Southern Illinois University. She teaches Math 1VB, Algebra UB, Geometry, sponsors Mu Alpha Theta and is involved day and night in helping people learn, which makes her more than a teacher in the eyes of all who know her. We see in Elizabeth Beardsley what we would all like to be ... successfully devoted to a life’s work. Therefore, because of her devotion and constant guidance, we, the lllohmet Staff of 1969, dedicate our yearbook to a most worthy teacher, Elizabeth Beardsley. Foreword What a yearbook should be and what a yearbook turns out to be are not always the same. We, the Illohmet Staff of 1969, have tried to present in these pages the essence of MCHS as we were able to see it. It is impossible to recapture the minute details, the inevitable slang, the dialogue which more than makes each situation. Also it is impossible to include every student in each activity. However, we sincerely hope that you will consider the Illohmet worth our time and your cooperation, and find it a book to treasure throughout the years to come, being able to look back and see that “you were a part of all you met.”
