JOHN 11:25,26 HOMECOMING SPARKED BY OVERWHELMING SCHOOL SPIRI T Sophomore Float Freshman Float Homecoming 1962 was an event that will stand out in the memories of all. Long hours were spent during the entire week building class floats, campaigning for queen candidates, and making sure everything was set for the big day'. Amidst screams, laughs, and cheers, the Homecoming assembly opened. Pep session pep talks raised the hopes for victory to new heights. At the game that night we cheered loudly our team did its best, but we tied with our Anna-Jonesboro opponents. However we soon returned to a festive mood, as we attended the Queen Coronation, dance whirled to the music by Jack St a ul cup. The music had stopped, the dance floor was empty, but Homecoming, 1962, will remain in every heart. 5 JUNIOR ATTENDANTS SOPHOMORE ATTENDANTS FRESHMAN ATTENDANTS 6 HOMECOMING QUEEN AND SENIOR ATTENDANTS Attendants, Left to Right: Shelby McWaters, Judy Whitelock, Queen--Rose Marie Wilson, Kay DeVault, Margie Walters. 7 PROUDLY PRESENTING “(Dur hearts Ulcce llumui anil (Day” The hush of an empty auditorium . . . anguish of rehearsals . . . casting . . . make-up . . . lighting . . . designing and redesigning of sets . . . watching the sea of faces over the footlights on opening night . . . and another play is born. 8 9 F.H.A. presents T M ? MUSIC APPRECIATION CLASS 66 CO A CHES CORNER Here are the Coaches all standing around real lazy like. But we can sure say that they aren't lazy when it comes to coaching a great team to make it the best one yet. Mr. Smith, our basketball coach, seems as though he is sitting and taking it all in. After all he does know he has a great basketball team. Mr. Shelton, our athletic director, does wonders in setting up our exciting football and basketball schedules each year. Mr. Bandy, the freshman basketball and freshman and sophomore football coach, works building them up for our future varsity team. Mr. Hopson, the golf coach, is in charge of one of our summer sports and he makes it a very pleasant one. Mr. Behrendt, our football coach, looks as though he might be falling asleep on us here but when he is on the sidelines at the football games he is far from sleeping, for he has coached a great football team. All in all each one did his part to make this year's teams a success. 68 VARSITY FOOTBALL SQUAD TOP ROW: Manager, Ira Kirby, James Phelps, Clyde Mott, Tim Vancil, Bobby Wills, Steve Heine, Bobby Kerns, Bobby Wagner, Danny McDuffee, THIRD ROW: Managers, Guy Brewer, Bobby Walters, David Ramsey, Bill Nutty, John Riglesberger, Jimmy Gentry, John Ramsey, Jackie Fossie, Mickey Hendrix, Richard Swain, Sherman Lauder, SECOND ROW: David Brenningmeyer, Stan Chase, Charles Foote, Alan Harmon, Dave Park, Boyd Bormann, Art Sleeter, Gary Little, Mickey Jennings, Assistant Coach, Bill Bandy, BOTTOM ROW: Coach, Bemie Behrendt, Carl Smith, Charles Patterson, Tommy Arrison, Donald Baker, Michael Stafford, Johnnie Wiseman, Jeff Lasley, Tony Monzulla, Jimmy Mizell, Robert Adcock. I believe in the future of farming with a faith born not of words but of deeds--achievements won by die present and past generations of farmers; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggle of former years. I believe that to live and work on a good farm is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of farm life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I can not deny. I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of organized farmers to serve our own and the public interest in marketing the product of our toil. I believe we can safeguard those rights against practice and policies that are unfair. I believe in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest welth to help make it so--for others as well as myself; in less need of charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me. I believe that rural America can and will hold true to the best traditions in our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.
