C. H. S. was in full swing. A flood of vivacious enthusiasm embraced all present in the grande salon of the Warren Koch Mansion, a wealthy basketball bladder manufacturer. The party was made a tremendous success by America’s Hostess with the Mostest,” Phyllis Miller. As the reception began the guests filed in, those with diplomatic affiliations first. These included President (of the United States, of course) Gary Lynn and the First Lady, the former Sue Arensman, who were followed by ambassadors Preston Giltner and Lauressa Faughn of the United Kingdom and Ceylon; diplomats front France, Marvin Quint, from India, Edward McDearman, from Malay, Rollic Bunting, and from the Soviet Union, Roy Lovcrkamp and George Bates. Representing the armed forces at the reception were Chief of Staff Charles Washer and Generals William Henderson, Danny Oliver, William Clutts and Dempsey Devers. Commander Mib Johnson and his crew Stanley Brinkcr, Fred Korte, Marcella Reineking and Marian Koncmann who had just returned from exploring Pluto were also present. Eagerly they awaited the arrival of Lannis Wallers, Dean of Women of Quantieo College, and Barbara Smith, President of Harvard. Gary Gowins, Head of the Mathematics Department at M. I. T. and his wife, Linda Horman Gowins, were discussing with Ida Anne Hammack her recent disapproval of the theory of relativity. The great French doors swung violently open as Larry Dew, international playboy, charged in on his gallant polo pony, Oliver. He dashed straight for the punch lowl and gave his trusty steed a long draft. All of the excitement thoroughly flustered Bill Cunningham, Prime Minister of Lower-Slobovia so Betty Halcom called Dr. Brenda Vickers to soothe his jangled nerves. As parties will and this one was no exception, the classmates gathered into little groups discussing old times and grandchildren. In one corner, however, there was some excitement. Mary Hausman, noted concert pianist was playing Carla Houseright’s latest composition. Musing over its beauty was Robert Van Schneider, famed conductor of the Pistol City Pops. Lounging on the piano was valuptious movie actress, Nancy Rice. Architect, Milton Wedeking, who was standing nearby seemed overcome by her unparallcd glamour. David Copley, roller coaster owner, was being constantly shadowed by Judy Cooper, girl detective on orders of Copley’s wife, Pam Fitzpatrick. It was rumored that lie was somehow involved with Dale Baker, notorious South American gun runner. The action shifted to the patio when Vickie Taylor, first lady of the American Stage, fell into the pool. So ingrossed in her oration was she that she failed to notice that her ramport was really a diving board. Choir director Robert Woodard rescued her and nurse Norma Blackwell revived her so that only moments later she resumed her performance. In the gathering around the pool were many of the famous of the Class of ’60” and a polo pony. Janice Lewis, an authority on compact living was doing her best to out talk lawyer Doris Jean Quint and cheerleader school deans Susan Wehrmcyer and Linda Jackson. Standing nearby, football coach Joe Hohman and Dr. Karen (cure for the common cold) Kruger chuckled to themselves at Janice’s feeble attempts. Novelist Martha (Bonjour Bonjour) Dever was leading a lively discussion on her latest book Lord Chatterly’s Lover.” Strongly critical of the work was Kay Mollcr, seven times winner of the Mother of the Year Award.” On the other side of the argument was gentleman farmer Jerry Mohr and Mortician Eddie Rice. Listening without comment (maybe they were afraid to say anything) were Robert Quint, an obstetrician, a chiropodist Gloria Potterbaum and a horse named Oliver. In a corner were Diamond Dwayne Wetherington and big game hunter Joyce Voile who were hashing out stalking methods, but they don’t seem to be stalking the same thing. Shirley Patrick and Irene Robinson were in the garden renewing old friendships with unidentified friends (probably people from the Class of ’61.”) Carol Sherman, a horticulturalist, her companions, a free-lance photographer Donna Tcckcnbrock, a marriage counselor Carol Rehlmcyer and a pedietric-ian Helen Wheeler were strolling with Norma Sue Wicdeman admiring beautiful gardens. Late guests were Grcna Dassing who made millions with her solution of what to do with doughnut holes, and Countess Von Roskid (the former Bonnie Rose) who simply made millions. With them was Sandra Burns who is listed in the famous New Orleans Blue Book. They joined Homemaker of Yesterday” Karen Leek, pickle taster, Bonnie McWaters, and Phyllis Norris, a hair dye expert, who were discussing with Lois Okerson the practicality of her Do It Yourself Rutabaga Stew.” A panic-strickened physicist, Lois Montgomery was frantically trying to convince Don Obermark that the said stew would explode, but her efforts fell on deaf ears until, of course, Lois herself proved her contentions and the stew and an explosion followed. Roy Meadows, Jerry Strickland and Ray McGee who had recently pooled their last dime for a sweep-stake ticket were getting a large charge out of lighting everyone’s cigarettes with ten dollar bills. (They won.) Metropolitan newspaperman Preston Brewer, Pravda editor Emily Reineking, and foreign correspondent Marvin Ellerbusch were discussing with California’s Governor Pat Brown and Illinois Senator Larry Hankins the complexity of world conditions. The internationally famous Ken Korte Square Dancers were rehearsing in the conservatory. Sharon Buldtman, Coy Carrell, Margie Cochran, Allen Gilt-ner, Carolyn and Johnny Henley, Connie Laird and Wayne Hillc were members of the troupe. The music for these world champions was furnished by the Folk Music-etts, Karol Kidd, Shirley Henley, Martha Hilgeman, Rosalee Lange, and Vernita LaRye. Weight lifter Mib Johnson helped Lannis Logeman move the grand piano into the conservatory for Carol Jones torch song number. The magnificent Markus (Edward of course), knife thrower, currently starring with Wrangling Brothers Circus was also to perform. His provaca-tive target was la belle Dixie Krueger. Gambler Bob Kimbrel was giving excellent odds on the outcome of the income of a stray knife in poor Dixie. In case of an unfortunate accident all funds collected were to go to the purchase of a casket. At that time Dr. Pat Richardson was in the powder room giving trembling Dixie a tranquilizer. Lewis Bowles and Norma Jeffords, a popular ballet team were scheduled to interpret a number composed especially for them by Thomas Hulsev. (They never said Lewis was always rather shy.) Teenage idol Bob Carr was to sing June Rowe’s latest song, Mr. Rooster on the Fence Cha Cha Cha.” On the lighter side of the program was a comedy team. Pansing and Potterbaum (Morris and Bill) who were currently appearing with Ronald Schrief-er and Betty Zollman on the Donna Douglas Show.” Music for the various acts was furnished by the Leroy Henderson Combo, including Charles Smith, Ronald Smith, Beverly Stratmcyer, Alice Sullivan, Glenda Sullivan, Lloyd Thompson, and Sharon Trampc (some combo, looks more like a symphony orchestra). TV narrator Bob Lingle served as emcee and introduced each act with the exception of an impromp- tu horse show in brilliant style. The Bremers, Aline, Geneva, and Mary Ann were ready with their trained flea act and in the meantime were kept busy keeping them away from Melvin Brugger’s dog. Ski instructor Steve Jessing and film star Mike Johnson were helping Alvena and Katherine Deasel, building contractors find seat for the big show. Homemaker Sandra Crayton and model Judy Compton helped Faye Miller, Navy Nurse and Barbara Kruger, sweater knitter seat the guests in preparation for the big show. Rosemary Richards, banker, chatted with shipbuilder, Larry Tucker and orchard owner Kay Vancil about the practicality of Dow Richardson’s new capsule form food. Shirley Rick, dietitician, stated emphatically that it would ruin America’s eating habits and was strongly backed by manners expert, Wilma Teckenbrock. In the corner we found peanut plantation owner Fred Reed, Bill Mathis, world traveler and Odell Obermark, a cartoonist, talking to Loretta Meindcr who is living better electrically and white mouse breeder, Martha Mills. The party moved swiftly and the guests became gayer and gayer. The Madcap” Carol Lott had already taught Pat Reynolds, the first woman jockey, how to rumba and professional baby-sitter Judy Lindsey had mastered the samba. Wanda Joe Linders, who does TV commercials, organized her own dance class across the room. Philanthropist Joann Windhorst and Couterier Donna Wright retired to the galleries with sculptur-ists Donna Sue and Mary Jane Riepe to admire an exhibit of Bertha Smallman’s late works. Equestrian Joyce Walter and Gloria Owens, geneticist, were already there discussing the completeness of Mr. Koch’s galleries. The law firm of Wynne, Worthen, Sullivan and Sullivan had offered legal advice to the Riepies, should anyone bring suit against them. (Mary Hannah, Rosemary, Alice and Linda.) The evening wore on and all were engrossed in each others fame and fortunes. However, two members of the Class of ’60 were not present, Tom Hawkins and Dennis Kidd. Some time ago they jointly invented a time machine. So excited to return to 1960 were they, that they forgot to set the machine to return to the present. Alas! It is still 1960 for them. The above is as accurate and precise report as three punch laden-party-goers could give. So before we all make a mistake or misspell another word, we will say Good Luck and Smooth Sailing to the Class of 1960.” Bovd, George, William Senior Activities JOE HOHMAN Football 1. 2. 3. 4; Track 1. 2. 3; Basketball 1. 2; Float Committee 2. 3: Prom Committee 3; Key Club 3. 4; (President 4); Honor Society 3. 4 (Officer 4); M. I believe that to live and work on a good farm is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of farm life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I can not deny. I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of organized farmers to serve our own and the public interest in marketing the product of our toil. I believe we can safeguard those rights against practice and policies that are unfair. I believe in less dcpcndancc on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so—for others as well as myself; in less need of charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me. I believe that rural America can and will hold true to the best traditions in our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task. + I I i I i i i i i 1 i i I i ! i +— This Pa c Sponsored By ZBormunn ?oxd 'dJiactor Standing: G.
