He is exceptionally spirited and is seen at every T.H.S. football game! In the not-so-far future we may hear his verbal acclama- tions coming to us from our radios! ' .V SidflS? - - 65 Spirits were high as the big day drew near. Coach Kissell gave a pep talk which really put us in the mood. — How We Trounced the Scarlet Knights — The day was clear and everything was set. The Red Ace showed who was boss from the opening kick off by picking up a fumble and scrambling in for six. Not satis- fied vet. the Rangers picked a play and within four min- utes, Ace carried over another. Vinny took off in a cloud of dust, but because all good things must come to an end, he bit the dust about five yards up. After a long day we all like to relax with a drink. After ten years of waiting and hoping, the MIGHTY RANG- ERS finally tasted the sweet- ness of revenge through VIC- TORY over North Andover! 67 Queen Irene Wunderlich and Attendants Jackie Roy, and Lucy Coco. 68 The 1968 season has created many memories for seniors Bob and Jim. With pride they will recall their vic tories over North Andover and Tewks- bury, and they will forever cherish the lasting friendships they have made. A locker room now empty and still recalls the activity it held during football season — the cheerful clamor of victory — the som- ber silence of defeat. With much nostalgia Ace leaves the club house for the last time and looks forward to his future with confidence and zeal. D r i b b I i n g, practice, laughter, lambs, and foul shots were all a familiar part of the girls ' basketball season at Tenney. Co-captains Pat Paine and Kathy Nelson, along with Coaches Bailey and Sh men- der, always tried their best to keep our girls in line, but the power and enthusi- asm of the squad was often uncontrollable. Be agres- sive! but be the most fab- ulous team ever — and they certainly were! The Seniors The Girls Who Cheered . With their psychedelic plaid cool-lot outfits and swishy, swaying poms, the T.H.S. cheerleaders inarched onto the field to make each Saturday football game a spirited smash. When seasons swapped — so did their attire. Crisp jumpers provided the elbow room needed to perform geometric routines on a basketball court. The girls ' year-round aim was to cheer with the crowd and to the team, thereby transferring the spirit from public to player where it could do the most good. The squad, consisting of eight seniors and five juniors, was led by co-captains Marsha Apkarian and Nancy Nicholson. Together, the thirteen girls lived through gymnasiums, silent bus trips, and tense situations, loving every minute of it; after all, that was the whole idea! Hurrah to the Tenney High Cheerleaders ' 68- ' 69. The Girls Who Twirled . . . Our Rangerettes of Tenney High, led by Captain Carol Adamson, added up to a talented unit of skill and energy. Whether they were marching in a parade, performing at a rally, or just practicing a new drill, the girls put forth their all. How can the group ever forget inspection, left, left, freez- ing football games, Step to the Rear, and those delicious morning snacks in our sweet-smelling locker room? For Carol Adamson, Franny Tulley, and Debbie Turchi, the three senior members of the squad, it won ' t be easy! Our Seniors 79 Winter Track SENIORS: Jeff Monti, Mike Angelari, Steve Dyer, Paul Karpowitz. 80 Dave Schruender, Don Najarian, Ron Valcourt. Although they had to clear the track when it snowed and wear warmer socks when it was cold, this year ' s winter track team proved that they were tough enough to win in any weather. Arms, legs and a will of iron make a wrestler a champion . . . According to this description, all of the 1969 wrestlers of Tenney High were champions. Ronnie the big guy. Business manager Cindy Johnston makes sure the staff doesn ' t overdraw its account, and both Glenna Noble and Beverly Naylor add an artistic touch to every issue. 98 First page editor Gail Schwartz and her reporters have done a fine job present- ing headline articles pertaining to the latest social and cultural events of the school. Editorials and feature articles are handled by Ann Zaccari. She and her second page workers keep an open line for students to express their views. Andrea Allston, third page editor, leads her staff in gathering all the latest gos- sip floating around the halls of Tenney. Sport page editors are Steve Bajor and Marsha Apkarian. They take increased devotion to that cause for which their leader, Mr. Rob- ert Fradette, has been giving many measures of devotion — that the Math Club will have a new birth of winning streaks and the theorems of the Ad- miral, by the Admiral, for the Admiral shall not perish from the blackboard. Its presi- dent, Bob Gallagher, has gallantly led the class, unscathed and in a blaze of red glory, through the rigors of Mr. Russell ' s tests. Speakers ' Bureau The Speakers ' Bureau, under the leadership of Mrs. W. Hovanasian, is a newly formed club of talented orators. Its primary objective is to improve the line of communication be- tween the adults and teen-agers of Methuen. The members enter speech contests and accept offers to speak at local clubs and organizations. !0 German Club The German Club, under the able leadership of its officers — President Stephen Bajor, Vice- President M. Kendall Bean, Secretary Ronald Najarian, and Treasurer Ralph Tatone, had a very successful year and was fortunate enough to attend several activities. In February, Don Carlos, a G erman film shown at Phillips Academy, was well attended by club members, as was Das Glas Wasser in May. An outstanding activity was the attend- ing of a German play written and produced by Phillips Academy students. All German students at Tenney are members of this club. The experiences enjoyed through this club ' s activities have proven interesting, informative, and beneficial to all students in- volved. • ' ••i ' ' -m ' • I ' ; f r ' Hitvi Hfl • ■ rv S R jiytiV3 PH5 III MtiUbMraB Gl Club If you pass the band room during third period, you may hear the melodi- ous strains of the Tenney High Glee Club. What is the torch? For the senior stu- dents at Tenney, it ' s a diary with every page filled — filled with sweet memories of three years past. It contains the com- bined literary and pictorial summary of each student ' s actions and reactions to the high school environment. What is a yearbook staff, or better still— who fills each golden page with remembrances that radiate the true spirit of Tenney? Our group of editors have worked diligently and enthusiastically to present their class with the finest graduation gift anywhere. They made certain it contained all the happen- ings of our three years— sprinkled with experience, mixed with knowledge, spiced with emotion, and topped off with time itself! Thanks and congratulations to the Yearbook Staff of 1969. Time it was, And what a time it was, It was . . . A time of innocence, A time of confidences. Long ago ... it must be I have a photograph.
