fg§ r Tenney Memorial High School and its campus which includes the Highfield Stadium (upper right) and the athletic field (upper left) now under construction. t ' A L i LlyULA-L J O OU Oorch 1966 TBc Ki F o r e w o r d In the years ahead this book will be our link with the past. It will serve to remind us that through the sincere dedication of our teachers, our own serious application to studies, and our participation in extra curricular and social activities offered here at Tenney High, our minds have been broadened, our characters strengthened, and our lives enriched. We are now prepared to go forth with a sense of accomplishment and a desire for fulfillment. I would like to express my appreciation to Mr. Lister, our advisor, for his invaluable assistance, and to the entire Torch staff for their sincere efforts in helping me recall many of these memories. Editor-in-Chief V Table of Contents -r-i « ■i , i ft ' • pi 1 T i ■, T • Si .■ l pita ! 3 ii-7 In Memoriam We of Tenney High shall always re- member Walter Beverly Ingalls, late Super- intendent of Schools, for what he was to us. Although he was not famous by the world ' s standards, his sincerity and dedi- cation to our school system as a teacher, guidance counselor and superintendent is a memory of which we should all be proud. MR. WALTER B. INGALLS In the service of the Methuen Public Schools from Sept. 1931 to July 20, 1965. For ten years Mrs. Frances Richardson was a part of the life and spirit of Tenney High. During these years as a teacher of French, Mrs. Richardson was more than a faculty member — she was a friend. Her presence will be sadly missed by all who knew and admired her, but her memory will live on within us. MRS. FRANCES RICHARDSON In the service of the Methuen Public Schools from Sept. 1953 to July 21, 1965. D e d • i c a t • i o n Martha D. Lange A friend to her students, A teacher outstanding, Her efforts were aimed At always demanding The best from each pupil Who came to her class. She ' d do all she could To help everyone pass. She ' d have before school A short practice session. Her wit and her patience Made quite an impression On faculty, parents, and all whom she taught. To do more than her job Was all that she sought. She now is retired, A rest she has earned, For from having her with us There ' s much we have learned. We ' ve learned how to study Yet how to find pleasure By making the most Of our moments of leisure. So we ' d now like to dedicate This yearbook to you And wish you God ' s ble ssing In all that you do. You have given us much And you ' ll long be remembered For your kindness, your friendship, Your time to us rendered. We hope that this yearbook To you now imparts The knowledge that we Hold you close to our hearts. We thank you once more For the work that you ' ve done To make schooldays fruitful And yet make them fun. We pray God will guide you, And to you his love send, For you weren ' t just a teacher, But also a friend. Administration Arthur F. Baker Superintendent of Schools B.S. ED. Hyannis State College M. ED. Bridgewater State College You are living in a pivotal generation and can play a vital part in determining which way we shall turn. On the one hand, we see glimpses of the wonders that may be ours through the relieving of human bondage, while, on the other hand, we are confronted by the spectre of indescribable carnage involved in modern war and by the militant voices of both the Left and Right which press for their forms of totalitarianism. If we, the people of this universe, are to live full, bountiful lives, then needed desperately today is the inquisitive mind in the courageous body. Needed too. are new patterns of thinking which will bring into being the unimpassioned, decent resolving of human conflict- Do you care? Where do you stand? What are you going to do about it? These may be the most lportant questions of the day for all humanity. (2 3-7oJL Arthur F. Baker Superintendent of Schools Principal Mr. Urville J. The ceiling was crepe, and the lights — they were dim. Outside the wind howled, and the snow softly (?) fell. But from inside the buildrng, nobody could tell. The ball went as scheduled in spite of the snow, And now the cadets were lined up in a row. The drill competition was keen and exciting. The whole atmosphere was extremely inviting. The movie, the banquet, the talent, the fun. It seemed that the ball had only begun When it drew to a close and the night was the But we knew that the memories forever would last.
