The Methodist College Chapter of the Student Education Association exists to provide opportunities for prospective teachers to develop leadership skills and to become ac- quainted with the history, ethics, and programs of pro- professional teacher organizations. Its members join in a movement with other educators to improve themselves as teachers, to raise professional standards and to better the schools of the state and nation. This year members have taken an active part in the local school system by volun- teering their services as aides at the Day Care Center for Retarded Children and at the Hillsboro Street School.

H islory and Polificcrl Science Club The History and Political Science Club is designed to foster and develop interest in history and political science and to keep abreast of contemporary issues. Activities included a field trip to Appa- lachian State University for a seminar on the Cold War. The club sponsored several guest lecturers, including Col. Collegiate Young Republicans The Collegiate Republican Club endeavors to in- form interested students of the ideals, goals, and party organization of the Republican Party through speakers, tours, trips, and investigation. The club also provides an avenue by which all political thought can be compared and contrasted in debate and informal discussion. The main belief of the club holds that each man is capable of making a choice. Therefore, by presenting both sides of the political spectrum, on an unbiased level, one may select the party best suited to his beliefs.
