The Pastiche Literary Club was formed for the purpose of developing talents in the art of creative writing. Club members spon- sor the publication of Tapestry , a literary compilation of represent- ative works in prose and poetry, written by talented members of the student body. The editorial staff of Tapestry is elected from club membership. The Pastiche holds weekly workshop meetings in which works are read for group criticism and discussion. The Esperanza Spanish Club has been working on a project entitled f'Let us have a better mutual understanding. This yearls goal was to send seven of its members to Madrid Univer- sity this summer. In order to accomplish this, the following activities were planned to raise the necessary funds: Student Directory, bridge tournaments, a dance featuring the Embers, and a candy sale. The first annual Christmas Tree of M.C. was also the project of the Spanish Club. A favorite of all is the clubis advisor, Dr. Esperanza Escudero, for whom the club is named. The paper is financed by student activity fees and is operated by a staff headed by the editor and assisted by a faculty advisor. sMALL TALK is six years old and has progressed from a monthly publication of four pages to a semi-monthly publication of six pages.
