The Sophomore Class began the year in the traditional manner with class elections. Bill Tarr was elected president, Gary Miller, vice-president, George Pearce, treasurer, Mary Linda Lancaster, secretaryj our three senators, Betty Lipscomb, Mary Ann Duncan, and Pat l-lardee. The first meeting at the class brought about a tew reconstructions ot last year's policies, and although Sophomore participation left a little to be desired, the meeting did serve to acquaint the class with a tew at the year's plans. The maior responsibility ot the Sophomore Class tor the year was to sponsor the annual Christmas Dance. Committees were set up to plan the various stages at the dance, with the following people heading the committees: Bob Nardone, Band Committee, Mary Alice l-lall, Publicity, Holly Williams, Decorations, Gary Miller, Refreshments. After much deliberation, Friday, December ll, was set as the date tor the dance, and the Bluenotes were contracted to supply the music. The Sophomore Class expresses its gratitude to all those who put so much time and effort into making the dance a social success. The class takes pride in saying that it sponsored the dance even though the financial outcome was rather questionable. The remainder of the year was dedicated to making the connections between the class members and its otticers more accurate and complete, and to preserving and maintaining the stature and recognition of the Sophomore Class. 35

Student Government Association The Student Government Association at Methodist College is a large and important organization because it is made up at every tull-time student enrolled at the college. The S.G.A. is divided into three distinct branches which are Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The SGA. strives to further activities ot student lite and promote interest in campus attairs both academically and socially. In obtaining this objective, the S.G.A. solicits the cooperation ot each individual member ot the S.G.A. 36
