When we, The class of l968, firsT came To lVleThodisT College we were a dis- uniTed assembly from scaTTered parTs of The counTry. Our firsT iob, and our firsT sTep as a class, was To selecT an able slaTe of class officers. We elecTed John Gardner as our presidenT, Jerry SmiTh as vice-presidenT, Anna Dixon as secreTary, and WalTer Shearin as Treasurer. As our SenaTe represenTaTives we chose David Holmes, Sue Jessup, and Gene Rapelye. These officers seT for Themselves The goals of promoTing beTTer relaTions beTween ourselves, The faculTy, and The upper- classmen and developing more school spiriT and class parTicipaTion. Our freshman year was a Time of learning and experiencing new Things. lT has been a Time of adiusTing, meeTing people, finding a compaTible group, and har- vesTing The advanTages of people, class, and acTiviTies. AlThough our emphasis was on expanded and specialized Training, we found Time for some ouTside ac- TiviTies. ln The fall of l96-4, we sponsored a hooTenany wiTh differenT parTicipaTing groups from The sTudenT body. We also Took parT, Though noT in a big way, in The book move To The new library. On February l2, l965, Our ClGSs QCIVS C1 VGlenTine Dance feaTuring The Catalinas. These acTiviTies, along wiTh oTher social evenTs sponsored by The Freshman class, have made our class an acTive parT of The sTudenT body. 27
