We flew back to the States. We have three children, Cheryl, 6M, Debra, 5, and Richard, ZVZ-his grand- parents will see him for the first time, as we are going to Keesler A.F.B., Miss., our next assignment, via Rochester. I am sorry that I shall be unable to attend my tenth reunion, but we must be in Keesler by june 22. Along with her letter Mrs. Knowles enclosed an article which appeared in the Yakota, japan, Air Force Base newspaper, describing an R.N. Club, whose membership included nurses whose husbands are stationed in japan. The purpose of the club is To serve as a social and professional organization, to provide contacts with other Registered Nurses, and a means of bringing them current information about nursing and medicine. The article contained a picture of Mrs. Knowles, showing her conferring with one of the A.F.B. staff members while she was doing special duty nursing. She also served as Yakota's Red Cross chairman and received her Red Cross Nurse pin, membership, and service bar. Many of the nurses in the club volunteer their professional services whenever needed in a hospital or in com- munity health programs. They work with the Yakota Dispensary, give immunization shots in the school and teach first aid and home nursing courses. I It was an interesting life in japan and a full one, which we enjoyed very much, but it's wonderful to be home again. 44 Qeatlts Mrs. May Bernard, 79, former house director at the Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing from 1937:1949, died March 14, 1959, in Omaha, Nebraska, of a cardiac disease.
