'i QUWHM Qeumioms, 1959 The Methodist-Kahler alumni made the school a busy area over the two-day Alumni Class Reunions held the weekend of june 26-27. They came to enjoy themselves, see their alma mater, and participate in the traditional class reunions and alumni banquet. This year, however, they found new spiceg the scenes of their many academic triumphs had been moved out of the Damon Hotel to the new home of the school at 4 - 2nd Avenue N. VV., directly behind the Rochester Methodist Hos- pital. Touring through the school's new facil- ities proved to be a novel and interesting ad- dition to the usual activities. A warm and enthusiastic reception was ac- corded Methodist-Kahler graduates as they arrived to register at Kahler Hall, enjoy the coffee hour, and meet their classmates and friends. Some brought children, all which added zest to the occasion. Those who did not have their families with them brought photographs and gave interesting reports as to their number, kind and progress in general. It makes one proud to learn how successful the alumni of the school are in their various walks of life. The three reunion classes held their tra- ditional luncheons, pictures of these classes were taken, and greetings and messages from absent members were read and exchanged. In the after- noon the reunionites were taken on guided tours of the school, hospital and the Special Observa- tion Unit. The annual Alumni Dinner was held this year at the Rochester Country Club at 6 o'clock on Friday evening, june 26, with an attendance of 170. Disappointment has been expressed for the small turnout of local graduates at the dinner. In order to improve the attendance for future banquets it has been suggested that per- haps if the husbands of the alumni were also invited to the banquet, more would attend. Mrs. Don Whiting, QGZadys Marcellus, '38D was Mistress of Ceremonies for the after dinner pro- gram, which featured Dr. G. M. Needham, president of the Board of Directors of the Ro- chester Methodist Hospital, and Mr. H. C. Mickey, hospital administrator. In addressing the assembled reunion classes of alumni, Dr. Needham first referred to the accomplishments made during the past hve years, and then referred to the important and exciting long-range plans being made by the directors and faculty committees for the devel- opment of the Methodist-Kahler School of. N urs- ing and the Rochester Methodist Hospital in the years immediately ahead. Mr. Mickey pre- sented and explained the architectural drawings of the proposed residence and educational build- mg- for the school, and emphasized the ways in whlch the alumni could assist in hastening the realization of these plans. A feature of this y'ear's dinner program was three presentations. Klrs. Harold Dison, jr., fN0fIl.Illf -Greenler, '52j president of the Alumni Association, and Klrs. R. Y. Randall, president of the Pink Ladies, presented Dr. Needham with a check for 33,550.56 for the Residence Building Mrs. Dison, Dr. Needham, and Mrs. Randall Fund. This money had been earned from two bazaars and a rummage sale, sponsored jointly by the Alumni and the Pink Ladies. Mrs. Dison presented a gift of appreciation from the Alumni Association to Miss Malvina Mau, who retired last spring. CSee story on page 37.7 The last presentation was the first of its kind in the his- tory of the association. A certificate of Club Membership was presented to the Dodge County Alumni Club. Mrs. XV. li. Ilenslin, CFl0ris Voorhees, '49D accepted the certihcate.
