During her entire career, Miss Smith has Supported and been active in the professional nursing organizations, and has served as presi- dent of both the district and local league, as well as on many committees both on the state and local levels. She is a life member of the Methodist-Kahler Alumni Association and a life member of the Zeta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the national honorary scholarship sorority of nursing education in the United States. At the school she has served as class adviser and in 1951 the senior class dedicated their annual to her. Her leadership and efficient administration of the school during the past two years have been assets to the continued progress of our school. As one colleague so aptly put it, If the problem at hand deals with leaking faucets, late pass hours, or just questions, her patience, understanding and willingness to help and advise always is present. She holds firmly to her beliefs-where she believes firmly, but there is always time for listening and discussing. The Link has followed with pride Miss Smith's career and now extends to the new director of our school, its best wishes for her highest success in the challenging and exacting responsibilities she has recently undertaken. Cymiss issociaie Qirecfor Miss Sheick's appointment as associate director was a change from one important ad- ' ' ' h . In 1949 she accepted the position of assist- ant director, in charge of the student health service, and in 1953 she was appointed assistant director in charge of the clinical areas. Miss Sheick held this position until her present ad- vancement to associate director. In addition to her academic responsibilities at the school she is active in the professional nursing organizations. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, National League for Nursing, and has served on various com- mittees of these organizations. She is a member of the Battle Creek Hospital Alumni Association, is a member of Sigma Delta Epsilon, a national honorary fraternity for women in science, and is currently on the educational committee of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce. Miss Sheick still resides in her home at 1332 First Street S. E. where many of you have had occasion to visit and share her pets Cpres- ently Pixie a miniature Dobermanj and the many objects de' art, which she collected while on a tour to the Holy Land. The Class of 1940 showed their appreciation of Miss Sheick's contributions to the life of the school by choosing her as their class adviser. She is well appreciated for her sense of humor in the class room which often helps to make the subject matter enjoyable. Congratulations to this popular member of the faculty.
