This idea took shape in the minds of those persons interested in promoting such a venture, with the result that the idea was presented to the student body and faculty. Various plans were prepared and submitted for study. The idea was well received and the forthcoming con- tributions soon indicated that the Student As- sociation would become a reality. A committee was selected to draft a constitution which was submitted to the student body and the faculty. Approval was unanimous and last fall the Stu- dent Association of the Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing became an official organization re- placing the pioneer student organization called the Student Forum. All students, on enrollment at the school, automatically become members of the association. The direction of the Student Association is vested in an executive board called the Student Council, which consists of a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer elected each year by the members of the association, two elected class representatives, the class presidents, the editor of the student newspaper and an adviser appointed by the executive committee of the faculty organization. This council meets once a month to discuss problems more thor- oughly and to make plans for activities spon- sored by the Student Association. The first officers of the organization were Clee Hartwig, presidentg Alice Tilton, vice president, Elinor Radke, treasurer: Faye Romer, secretary and Xliss Bertha XYellington, adviser. The Student Association meets four times a year, two of the meetings being business meet- ings and two, social meetings. In addition, social events are planned: these include teas, dormitory parties and Big-Sister activities. This new organization is intended to further the ideals and spirit of Methodist-Kahler as a whole: to work with the faculty toward a com- mon goal: to take over and regulate all matters not falling under the jurisdiction of the faculty, together with all matters which may be referred to it by an individual or by committees, and finally, to train students for a larger citizenship.
