' House Director IS a more accurate title, but no one word can possibly describe the num- erous services performed by these invaluable persons. They range from keeping a record of the number of late passes each of us uses each month, to supplying an ice bag when we have our wisdom teeth extracted. House Directors hold an esteemed and important position on the staff of our school. Do you remember the day you entered Kahler Hall for the first time? In all likelihood one of the first people you met was Mrs. Van Demark. This lovely little lady with the white pompador was first associated with the Kahler School as house mother at Maxwell Hall from 1939 to 1949, when in that year she became House Director at Kahler Hall, which position she still holds. Mrs. Van Demark holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yankton College, Yankton, South Dakota. As we progress in training we all aspire to live in one of the houses on the hill. But on our way up we stop at Maxwell Hall. Here Mrs. Oliver Peterson is House Director. Mrs. Peterson came to Maxwell in 1949 and prior to that time she had resided at Edith Mayo Hall for two years. Mrs. Peterson has her diploma from Mankato Teacher's College and all of us will remember her sparkling brown eyes and congenial smile.
