As the strains of the processional, Pomp and Circumstancen, filled the Central High School Auditorium, the seventy-nine senior students of the Kahler School of Nursing marched down the aisles at the twenty-ninth graduation ceremony. The invocation was delivered by the Reverend Arthur C. Lam- bourne of the First Baptist Church. The Kahler Choir, under the direction of Miss Maxine Hayden, sang l'Angels of Mercy and Hymn of Youth. Dr. R. D. Mussey, in his commencement address, pointed out the need for high ideals and a willingness to work to carry out these ideals. Dr. Mussey's concluding statement was It's a noble pro- fession, of which you can be proud. Miss Gilberta Durland, director of the Kahler School, intro- duced the candidates for diplomas to Mr. A. J. Lobb, who presented the diplomas and extended congratulations to each candidate. Dr. C. VV. Mayo presented the awards. The H. Kahler Memorial Scholarships were presented to Norma Bodle and Joanne Niemeyer. Alternates for these two awards were Mary Jane Bieber and Irma Heise. The Mayo Association Graduate Nurse Award was presented to Miss Lois Arneson, '45, who is at present Head Nurse at the Kahler Hospital. Dr. Mayo also announced the honor roll of the class. After the ceremony there was an informal reception in the school cafeteria in honor of the graduates, their relatives and friends.
