Controlling General Administration VINCENT F. FARINA “What the best and wisest parent wants for his own child that must the community want for all its children.” John Dewey Having journeyed along the highway of education together for four years, you have acquired friendships and associa- tions which will be cherished among the many fond mem- ories of your life. Here, within these friendly halls, through the kindly influence of the faculty, you have been guided without being pulled; urged without being suppressed. Now you have reached a milestone in your journey, from here company is parted with those friends, teachers, and parents who have aided thus far, through their experi- ence, kindness, and advice. You are armed with the heritage of strength, knowledge, and character with which your Alma Mater has endowed you. In your struggle forward, seeking “the happy life,” remember always that the earth gives its fruits only to those who labor for them. You have learned that it takes time to bring excellence to maturity. With these thoughts in mind take leave of Methacton knowing that aptitude without aspiration is lifeless and inert. Success is a blend of talent and desire, of ability fused with zeal. To each of you, I extend my personal good wishes for success. Bon Voyage! Vincent F. Farina Supervising Principal 7

Few students at Methacton Junior-Senior High School realize that behind our school there is an invisible force that is pushing us ahead to greater goals. The men and women on the Lower Providence-Worcester Joint School Board compose this active force. Each month these people give their time and energy to insure that our school is the best that it can be. Our rules and regula- tions, and our privileges too, are reviewed by them as they help us to build a better school. Heading this important organization is Mr. Robert Hilderbrand, President; Mr. Raymond Ramsey, Vice-President; Mr. Al- bert Bobb, Secretary; and Mr. Marriot East- man, Treasurer. 6

A most important person around Methacton is Mr. Alpheus P. Drayer, the school princi- pal. He attended Dickinson College earning a Bachelor of Philosophy Degree; and later Kent State, one of the State Universities of Ohio, receiving a Master of Education De- gree. Recently. Mr. Drayer did graduate work at Pennsylvania State University. After hav- ing served as a teacher or principal of sev- eral other Pennsylvania and Ohio schools, he became associated with the Lower Provi- dence-Worcester District in September of 1963. The position of principal carries many heavy responsibilities of which the major ones are the organization and expan- sion of curriculum, and supervision of in- struction. Mr. Drayer works with the teachers and keeps the faculty up to date. He han- dles public relations, meeting with the Home and School Association and various organizations in and out of school. A new and exacting duty Mr. Drayer assumed this summer was that of scheduling all the stu- dents in Methacton. He is also responsible for establishment and control of the budget. The list of duties and responsibili- ties of a principal is long, and many are tedi- ous and tiring. Methacton is privileged to have such a capable and dedicated person filling this position. ALPHEUS P. DRAYER HANDLING DIRECT ADMINISTRATION, ACTIVITIES, JOHN FAUL Mr. John Faul is Administrative Assistant of the Lower Provi- dence-Worcester Joint School System. Included in his du- ties are the maintenance and operation of the school system, supervision of the bus transportation for the school system, including the elementary schools; and conduction of busi- ness transactions, such as preparing bids and specifica- tions. Mr. Faul also has charge of all custodians and bus drivers. 8
