BULLET PASSES GIVE HOMECOMING CROWD FIRST WIN St. John Bob Weske passed for three touchdowns to give the Bishops Cl deserving victory. A sleeper play caught the Bishops off-guard and the Eagles scored their only touchdown, ending the game at 20-7. REVENGING REDWINGS SLIP BY MESSMER Notre Dame Gallops by Aehl and Murphy tied the score at T2-12, but the Redwings took advantage of a Bishop fumble in the last quarter and turned it into the game-win- ning touchdown.

Weske, Head Coach Bob Regent RIGHT OFF THE GRID Fifty-tive varsity candidates posed a problem when Coach Bob Regent and his assistants, Dick Romanski and Norm Domach, began pre-season drills. With spirits high, the Bishops looked for- ward to a prosperous season. In the first game, the Bishops lost a tough con- test to Notre Dame, while Pius and St. Catherine's also got the nod. Fighting for every yard on a slippery field was not enough when our team played the Junior Hilltoppers, who took the game at 31-0. Messmer picked on the Dons for one of their better games. After a quick touchdown by the Dons, Gene Kealty racked up an 89-yard iaunt and then scored from the 3-yard line, putting the score 7-6 in the Don's favor. The last six-and-a- half minutes proved to be fatal, four quick touch- downs provided the sudden victory for the Dons. Fumble-itis la disease which hits every team at some timel attacked the Bishops in the form of Waukesha Memorial, ending in a 19-O score.

HARD DRIVING ANGELS PICK UP A WIN St. Catherine A 57-yard pass play to Gene Kealty gave the Bishops their tally, as the Angels ran for a quick win, 33-6. Fathers Kuehn and Schmif look over the field at an early fall game. ALERT DEFENSE KEEPS BISHOPS FROM SCORING Pius Second-half sprinting wore down the Bishop defense, leav- ing the Popes out on the long end of the score, 20-O.
