They came at last! After an ab- sence of freshmen from the roster since l946, this past year we have had about 120 at MHS. Though small of stature, they brought with them the will to learn and the eagerness to fit into a senior high school. The upperclassmen probably enjoyed the youngsters most, especially in early September when the latter frequently strayed into wrong classes and sheepishly left for parts still unknown. A recognition of the values to be gained has prompted the Fidelis Forensic Club to carry on an extensive program of speech activities. A good balance between competition and team- work is maintained through the contests sponsored by the Mid-West Catholic Speech League, the Spring Speech Festival under the sponsorship of the Chicago Catholic Forum, and the tournaments of the Wisconsin High School Forensic Association. The club also supplies speakers to address pupils in the elementary schools during Catholic Education Week. All the work is coached by Sister M. Charlotte. .X Z Mike Neuberger, Robert Zinns. These young musicians made many more appearances and showed better marching form at games this year. The glockenspiel, an interesting bell-like instrument, was a newcomer in the percussion section. We learned that the critics' remarks of individual work in the Wisconsin State Music Association judgments in April were very gratifying. The track team competed in the Milwaukee Iournal Indoor Track Meet held at the Arena on March 6, and the Baker Field House Meet at Wisconsin State College on March 20.
