DD Es: D ENT'S LETTEIQ Dear Friends: Liberty is an American tradition. The Declaration of Independence cites liberty as an unalienable human right. The first amendment to the American Constitution guaranteed freedom of religion. ln the present world confiict America expresses her idealism by advocating freedom from fear, freedom of speech, freedom of worship and freedom from want. What sacred traditions! What beautiful ideals! Such liberty is a treasured possession. But it does not adequately answer man's cry for freedom. Moral and spiritual freedom are essential to man's happiness. Without inner freedom we Cannot have complete outer freedom. Of what use is freedom to worship, if men do not worship? Of what value is freedom of speech if men are slaves to self interest, public opinion and expediency? Of what value is freedom from want if men revel in luxurious dissipation? Man must be free within before he can be free without. The heart cry for freedom finds its answer in Christ. 'ttf the Son, therefore, make you free, ye shall be free indeedf, Wllhe law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free. This freedom from inner 'bondage is the foundation of all freedom. Without' it political, social and economic freedom will not endure. Messiah Bible College is dedicated to the cause of spiritual freedom -freedom from the inner bondage of self and sin. May you who leave our halls this year experience that glorious freedom and be willing to sacrifice all in the effort to make that freedom effective in other lives. Busznvss Manager Nurse-Dean of Women D EDAIQTMENTS IN ACTIO N HISTORY LATIN SHOP CHEMISTRY There is a trend in the American colleges to divide the academic offerings into a few major divisions rather than a large number of departments. This method has a tendency to unify and integrate the work olfered. Divisional heads must be properly trained both in subject matter and professionally. Each division has distinct aims and objectives toward which they are working. Teachers, divisional heads, and the academic dean cooperate to the end of a full- rounded program of study for each student. The student's welfare is paramount and kept in mind continually. The divisions in which instruction is given at Messiah Bible College are the Humanities, the Social Sciences, and the Natural Sciences. There are three groups under the first-mentioned division, namely, Arts and Languages, Christian Education, and Music. Under the second division there are two groups, namely Social Studies and Business Education. The Natural Sciences include both the sciences and mathematics. The pictures above represent the three divisions. Latin is in the field of the Arts and Languages. History and shop are in the field of the Social Sciences. Chemistry is in the field of the Natural Sciences. THEN WE DIQGANIZED HAPANTES This organization functions for the benefit of M. B. C. and largely directs the activities of her youth. All other organizations of the College operate under Hapantes. Perhaps the most important undertaking this year was the Card Sell- ing Campaign. The success was due to the cooperation ol' the students and reveals their loyalty to the school. With Christian leadership Hapanles is leading M. B. C. steadily forward. STUDENT COUNCIL Student Council wire organized lo bring the members of the student body into a wholesome relationship with fellow students and with the administration and faculty. lt is composed of the Hapantes Executive Committee and the l're-with-:its of all organizations recognized by the faculty. Meetings are ht-Ifl bi-weekly and problems vital to the student body are eonsiclerecl. The Social Committee is one of the two standing committees under Student Council. This year we attempted to solve some of the problems that relate to the social life of the students and sponsored several profitable student get-togethers. This is the fourth year that the Athletic Council has functioned as organizers of the recrealional pl'0g1'iilI1 of the school and purchasers of equipment. lLs contributions lo the schools recreational life are greatly appreciated. This year the ofhcers of the Missionary Circle acted as leaders of Gospel Team. Throughout the year our main purpose has been to intro- duce Christ to those who did not know Him as their Saviour. GOSPEL TEAM The Lord has blessed the Gospel Team endeavors during the year. The new helper, a 1934 Chevrolet, has conveyed our team to conduct services in various sections of Pennsylvania. Seven appointments are regularly cared for each month. We also respond to calls for special services.
