Every year there is a group of 43 students that make up the Student Council. They consist of nine members from each grade and seven officers selected by the student body. There are also three or four sponsors. Last year they were: Ann Boswell, Susan Fridge, Debbie Gilbert, and Linda Lewis. This club is designed to help improve and encourage school spirit and pride. There are several activities that are sponsored by the Student Council each year. For instance, the movies that are shown throughout the school year and the many activities that are held during football season. Examples of these are the pie in the face contest, and best decorated car contest. Other activities consist of the balloons that are released at half-time during the homecoming game, the mums that are given to the Homecoming court, and the Valentine carnations that are sold for Valentine's day. Each holiday they show their appreciation to the faculty by furnishing a coffee or just leaving them some candy. Although this may seem like a lot of work, there are many fun times. Several parties are put together with snacks, games and or swimming. Besides the parties, there are workshops that selected members attend. The summer workshop is good experience and a reason to meet new people. There are also the district conventions, mid-winter workshops, state conventions and one day workshops that are held at nearby schools. Each Student Council has their own way of helping the school and community, however they encourage all students to run for this organization. 1 10 Seniors
