'Ji -me-rv GARY DENNIS Gary lost his life in a car accident early this year. He was a sophomore and a promising athlete. His .presence at MHS is sorely missed. THE ABIDING LOVE It Singeth low in every heart, We hear it each and all- A song of those who answer not, However we may callg They throng the silence of the breast, We see them as of yore- The kind, the brave, the sweet, Who walk with us no more. 'Tis hard to take the burden up When these have laid it down 3 They brightened all the joy of life, They softened every frown, But, Oh, 'tis good to think of them When we are troubled sore! Thanks be to God that such have been. Although they are no more. More homelike seems the vast unknown Since they have entered thereg To follow them were not so hard, Wherever they may fare, They cannot be where God is not, On any sea or shore, Whate'er betides, thy love abides, Our God, forever more. -fohfz lI7hi!e Clnfzdzvirk P- , ara. MR. L. B. McLARAN Everyone .who know Mr. Mc- Laran was saddened by his death. He had been associated with our school as Tax Assessor for the past sixteen years. His cheerful personality will be missed by all who knew him. 3

Memoriam - 'Dedication MRS. JAUNITA DAVIS It has been our custom, in recent years, to dedicate the annual only when we felt there was one among us that truly deserved the honor. We made the decision to dedicate this year's edition to Mrs. Davis a number of months before she passed away. We regret that she did not live to receive the dedication. I Mrs. Davis has been an outstanding teacher, as well as a friend, to many students that have passed through Mesquite High in the past few years. Despite extreme physical adversity, Mrs. Davis established the Vocational Office Education program in our school this year and did an outstanding job. ' Her courageous determination to carry on, when most people would have given up, was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her presence here is sorely missed, but we trust she lives with the Lord, and- with him there is no pain, only happiness. Jesus said unto hher, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. St. john 11: 25-26
